The Radio Teleswitch Service (RTS) signal started shutting down on 30 June 2025 and is being switched off in stages across the Western Isles.

There are over 50 RTS meters in South Uist & Eriskay

RTS meters could be in households, community buildings & business premises

When the signal for your meter ends, your heating or hot water may stop working without warning.

We are ready to help you learn.

Tomorrow from 9am to 9pm we will be at Talla an Iochdair giving CPR lessons.

This is along with Restart a Heart Live day, run by the Resuscitation Council UK. They will have videos running on the hour, every hour, teaching CPR.

Up till 11am the videos will be based at primary school level, but feel free to turn up anyway.

I will start up some bits of home baking & jams etc also once I get into the swing of it again. Available at Lovats Carnan only

You can donate without taking any produce in our collection tins situated at the till counter at Lovats Carnan

A huge thank you to our customers for supporting us & helping to fund our charity pot.
This money is solely going towards the project of providing BEACH WHEELCHAIRS with storage for those with mobility disabilities to access & enjoy time on our stunning sands in Eochar & be able to dip their toes & fingers into the shallow water of the sea. An experience many may have never had before, providing a huge benefit mentally & spiritually for both the chair user & their carer / families.
Our aim is to have a Beach Wheelchair for an adult, one for a child & a foldable Beach Walker with seat (Walking Frame), free to use with an option to make a donation to help towards maintenance etc required all year round.
A storage container/shed at the beach with water tap to wash off sand/salt water will also be required along with many other bits & bobs.
Lovats Supermarket in Carnan South Uist have charity boxs at the checkouts as this project will require funds all year round.
We will also be applying to other funding bodies nationally to help raise the large amount needed. Our initial start up sum we estimated around £10,000.
