The annual Wobble took place one day after Storm Claudia dumped a month's rain in one day on Wales. The Cerdin crossing was deep and many cyclists went for an early swim.

The Trailhead Get Jerky Devil's Staircase 50k Ultra trail race is on next Saturday, October 4, start time 9am. I was out this morning walking and taking panorama photos on the early part of the course through the beautiful Irfon Valley. There are entries on the day with registration from the Neuadd Arms from 7.30am. The route is waymarked and marshalled. There are two well-stocked feed stations and three water stations. The Bogathlon took place on Saturday, August 23, 2025. This brilliant, mad, eccentric, fun event, which is destined to be one of the UK's most popular extreme and fun sports.

The final act at the bog weekend included Irfon Watkins laying down a public challenge to Ian Matthews (Chapel sponsors of the Bogfest) to take the plunge next year. A public challenge such as this has to be fulfilled!
After that Julia from Ireland, who has been coming to the bog for 26 years, paid tribute to Gordon Green and gave us a rendition of the Bog Snorkelling song, which was composed by Tony Eagen, who sadly passed away recently.

Before prize giving at Bog Snorkelling today, Bernie Benton and John Davies paid heartfelt tribute to the Great and late Gordon Green. John said "those who live in our hearts never die". Gordon will be missed by so many in Llanwrtyd, but his legacy will live on. Seeing so much joy and happiness today at the bog is a fitting testimony to that legacy.

TRAILHEAD GET JERKY DEVIL'S STAIRCASE 50K ULTRA TRAIL RACE

The next running of this challenge event is on 4th October 2025 The race distance will be approximately 50 km (31.5 miles) with a total ascent and descent of about 5,200ft (1585m). Most of the race will be a combination of off road and on-road sections, including the hellishly steep ascent (25%) of the iconic Devil's Staircase. The race is a test of endurance and stamina.
The race starts from the Neuadd Arms in Llanwrtyd Wells and passes through the Irfon Valley; the old Drovers road to Abergwesyn; Abergwesyn Valley (one of the most beautiful in Wales) ; up the steep but short Devil's Staircase; Soar Y Mynydd Chapel (the most remote in Wales); Lynn Brianne reservoir, and finally past the 11th Century St David's Church.
