Big thank you to the dozens of people who came to the book giveaway at Llanwrda School today, and to the very many who donated to the charity. It is an enormous help as we prepare for the restoration of the almshouse building into five homes. Happily it did not rain!

We would like to thank Llandovery Rotary Club for the donation we received from the recent Duck Race. We also thank Bronwen for selling the ducks. It's been a tough year, in which our treasurer Carwyn died. We are continuing, with huge help from Tony, from Jonathan at Cwmpas, and from our consultant/supporter who knows many key people and has made similar projects happen in the past. We are making progress.

The next book sale will be at Llanwrda School on Saturday October 18th, 11am-3pm. Books free, donations welcome.

Readers left with hundreds of books during the disposal at Llanwrda School yesterday, and they made generous donations to the charity -- entirely voluntary, but greatly appreciated. Happy to see lots of children keen on reading. We still have some boxes to sort through, so there may be another free books day before the end of the summer.

Saturday June 28th 11am-3pm Ysgol Gynradd Llanwrda Primary School BOOKS MUST GO children's, adult fiction, non-fiction including cookery, gardening, history. As new to clearly used, no prices just voluntary donation to the Almshouse Charity of Letitia Cornwallis, which has to raise £1 million to restore the listed Georgian almshouse into five new homes for local people.

Carwyn Jones, our indefatigable treasurer, passed away unexpectedly at home on April 27th. He is and will be greatly missed. He worked so hard for the charity over many years, and felt that we were at last close to fulfilling our aims of providing homes for local people, through a partnership with Bro Myrddin Housing Association, and with the coming restoration of Cornwallis House.
The work continues.
