Bryn Illtyd Youth Trust Helping young people in Llantwit Major to fund hobbies, expeditions, and extra-curricular activities

28/04/2026

This past weekend saw Llantwit Major U8's embark on their first rugby tour, where they were welcomed by St. David's RFC.

The tour began with a 'team building' meet at the local trampoline park, followed by a glorious couple of hours on Whitesands beach.

After a quick visit to the hotel, the tourists convened at St. David's rugby club (a huge thanks to the volunteers who agreed to open the club up for us on Saturday evening) for food, drink and an impromptu training opportunity, where the coaches got a turn to show the boys how it's really done.... Unfortunately, the coaching team were hindered, mostly through enjoying themselves a bit too much at the bar!

Sunday saw the team play in a competitive round robin with the hosts St. David's and another local team, Whitland RFC. In perfect conditions, despite the (very) late night, some fantastic rugby was on show.

All in all, a fantastic weekend enjoyed by the team, the coaches and parents alike. A massive thank you to the Bryn Illtyd Trust and the Cowbridge and Llantwit Lions for their very kind donations towards the tour, along with a big thanks to the coaches, players and parents for their support this season. Roll on under 9's next season!
