Repair Cafe Llantwit Major As part of the Repair Cafe Wales initiative, we have been providing a local, voluntary repair service for portable domestic items since Oct 2018.

We're back at Llantonian Hall on Saturday 9th May, 10-12, and will be looking forward to the 'surprise' items our customers will be bringing us.

Here's an example Hyundai mini sewing machine which has an 'issue' we can fix. The plastic cog at the motor has split, resulting in the mechanism running 'rough' if at all. In fact this is the 2nd time we've seen this with mini sewing machines of different makes...back in the old vintage days these would have been metal parts and would have been designed to last longer. Anyway we can produce a replacement part on a 3D printer to fix this.

We'll be back at Llantonian Hall on Saturday 11th April, 10-12 looking forward to helping fix your household goods!

We try to fix most portable household items, including bikes, computers, mobile phones, electricals, fabric items, toys, clocks and watches. We can't fix larger appliances, microwaves, and petrol powered items.

We're always looking out for new volunteers as well, especially a new 'material girl' (or boy) with fabric repair skills. if there are people interested please come for a chat!

Our operation has grown considerably over the years, and we're looking for new volunteers (age 16+) who might be willing to fill a number of roles that will sustain this expansion. The roles are once/month for 2hours only... specifically:
1/Food and drink provision (generally teas, coffee and cake at the moment).
2/Data entry, involving transfer of customer data from paper forms to an online system.
3/Fabric repair/sewing machine operator. Just looking for additional help to our existing team!

Please either drop by (next session is Sat March 14th) or drop as a line/email/reply!

We've had a particularly busy session with 30+ items fixed. Thankyou, customers, for the interesting items you've been bringing in and for your donations, but if we were short on time, there's another opportunity to see many of us at Cowbridge this Saturday 21st Feb, 10-12 at the Scout Hall!

As part of Repair Cafe Wales' 'Fix-it-Feb" campaign we're naturally encouraging the general public to bring something along to be fixed, or alternatively advice given. We're also adding some new capabilities in Feb - we can perform some aspects of watch repair including battery replacement and mechanical movements. We don't yet have the tools and skills for leather watch strap repair, or glass/crystal replacement, and we'd suggest you try elsewhere for these, but we may be able to advise.

We'll be back at Llantonian Hall for Fix it Feb on Saturday 14th Feb 10-12!

As well as offering a free service to fix your household things, we do offer the opportunity to come 'in from the cold' for a tea/coffee or some cake, served by our wonderful hostess Anne- Marie. A recent arrival to Llantwit, she's also enjoying the opportunity to meet up with the 'locals' in this town!
We may also have some second-hand used quartz watches for sale, suitable for ladies/gents and some for children, these watches are tested working

We're at Llantonian Hall 10-12 this Saturday 10th Jan, and at Cowbridge Scout Hall on Saturday 17th Jan.
