Still time to register for our information session tomorrow for the Welsh Government's Employability Support Programme (ESP)

In partnership with Elite Supported Employment, we're seeking to engage with organisations who may be interested in working alongside us as part of a collaborative regional delivery partnership.

The ESP programme is expected to initially support young people aged up to 24 who are not currently in education, employment or training, with the potential for additional cohorts, including individuals experiencing short-term and long-term unemployment to be introduced over time. Delivery will be commissioned on a regional basis and is intended to reflect local labour market need, community context and place-based service design.

As we kick off Apprenticeship Week across the nation, we want to highlight Kayleigh, who is our Project Manager at Elite, and is also working towards her ILM Level 5 Diploma in the Principles of Leadership and Management
Kayleigh has worked with us for just over 6 years and is our Project Manager on SustainAbility – a green careers programme funded by the National Lottery.

Kayleigh shared her thoughts with us about the skills for life she will gain from this apprenticeship:

“Working towards my ILM Level 5 has provided valuable insight into effective leadership and management. The apprenticeship programme is helping me strengthen my strategic thinking, develop practical tools for leading teams, and refine the way I approach decision-making. I’m fortunate to have supportive line managers who provide guidance, encouragement, and space to apply what I’m learning in practice. Their support has been invaluable in helping me grow throughout this journey. It’s proving to be an important step in my ongoing professional development.”

This week we’re saying a fond farewell to our founder and chief executive, Andrea Wayman, who is retiring after 30 years of supporting disabled people into paid employment in Wales.

Andrea has been instrumental in helping more than 20,000 disabled people and individuals with barriers to work to access and sustain meaningful employment.
We’ll miss having Andrea as part of the team, but hope she has a well-earned rest!

Congratulations to our Chief Executive, Andrea Wayman who has been made an Honorary Fellow of Social Enterprise UK!

Andrea was entered into the Social Enterprise Hall of Fame this week in recognition of the incredible contribution she has made not just to our community, but to the social enterprise movement as a whole.

The Fellowship recognises those whose leadership, commitment, and vision have helped shape the social enterprise movement in ways that have made a real and lasting impact.

Andrea said: "Having worked in the social enterprise sector for more than 30 years, I am extremely honoured that Social Enterprise UK recognised my involvement of growing the social enterprise movement.

"Social Enterprises in Wales are essential for our community growth, and future economic prosperity, contributing £5.7 billion to the Welsh economy this year, whilst addressing environmental needs and personal growth."

Our talented supported interns have been busy crafting beautiful baubles to decorate ELITE’s Christmas Tree. You can see our display at Margam Park’s Christmas Tree Festival until 30th November.

🌿🧱 Digging into History! 🧱🌿

Supported Interns from Neath Port Talbot College and Lisa, ELITE’s own Indiana Jones, had an amazing time at Margam Park’s ArcheaoMargam Community Archaeology Day

From surveying and 3D imaging to digging up finds from the early 1800s—including pottery, clay pipe stems, and even a bone button—it was a hands-on history lesson we won’t forget!

📍 ArchaeoMargam was run by Centre for Heritage Research and Training, Swansea University and funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
