Longbridge Street Chapel

Longbridge Street Chapel Longbridge Street Chapel (LSC) is a former Wesleyan Methodist Chapel built in 1874. Two opposing groups are set up to encourage healthy and mature competition.

The site has a long history of congregation and as a space where the oral tradition is practiced and culture is created. Sermons, lectures and discussions were foundational in the creation of Wesleyan theology and, in turn, the cultural identity of Wales. The gradual accumulation of theology, community, culture and connection was interrupted when the chapel closed for public use in 2018. The proje

ct seeks to reinstate the chapel’s role in the community and its place in the cultural history of Wales, recasting this role to fit to contemporary needs and the priorities of a post-Covid society. LSC will host a programme of quarterly workshops as well as a development project;

Man Cyfarfod / Meeting Place is a development project lead by Krystal S. Lowe and Matthew Gough, hosted by LSC, seeking to build long-term partnerships between the community, cultural/creative sector, and organisations interested in arts and health. Ears To Learn With is an educational enrichment project lead by Todd Speakman which aims to emulate a cooperative workplace environment, modelled on the idea of a record label. The groups first spend some time creating music (recording, singing, rapping, performing etc). The groups then 'pitch' to possible investors for their music project. Each participant contributes something to their group and then as a group they present it to a panel at the end of the week.
