🍂🎃 AUTUMN HAS ARRIVED AT KCC SHOP — WITH A LITTLE HINT OF HALLOWEEN! 🎃🍂

Brian has been holding the fort in the shop since 10am, but he’ll be leaving shortly, so if you’re planning a visit, now’s the time to pop in!

We’ve also changed the window display and it’s looking very autumnal, with just a little hint of Halloween. 🍁🎃👻

Just to make it absolutely clear — the pumpkins, ghouls and other Halloween props in the window are NOT FOR SALE. If something in the window, or anything Halloween-themed in the shop, is for sale, it will have a price on it. Simple! 🎃

We do have a small number of Halloween costumes that will be going out over the next few weeks. So, if you’ve got old Halloween costumes you’d like to rehome, now is the perfect time to bring them along. 👻🧙‍♀️🎃

We’d particularly appreciate donations being brought in on a Wednesday, when Karen and Lauren are in and can sort everything straight away, rather than donations piling up waiting to be dealt with.
If Wednesday isn't possible, just give us a ring at the shop. And if you're local and have a larger donation, we'd actually prefer to come and collect it where possible. Karen or Gary will be happy to collect.

So if you’ve got Halloween costumes lurking in the back of the wardrobe that you no longerb need, let someone else give them a new lease of life! 🧙‍♀️👻🍂

🍂 HAPPY AUTUMN FROM KCC SHOP 🍂

Well, September is here, and we’re officially embracing autumn!

But did you know there are actually two different dates people use for the start of autumn?

🍁 1st September — the start of meteorological autumn. Meteorologists divide the seasons into neat three-month periods, so autumn is September, October and November.

🍂 21st September — around the date of the autumn equinox, when day and night are approximately equal in length. This marks the start of astronomical autumn.

So whichever date you prefer… HAPPY AUTUMN! 🍁

And autumn has arrived in the shop too! Our autumnal clothes will start to come out, ready for those cooler days and cosy evenings.

We’ve also had some lovely new antique and vintage pieces, along with lots of other new donations and little treasures arriving in the shop. I’ve popped some pictures below so you can have a peek at just a few of the things waiting for you.

🍂🎃 IT’S HAPPENING… AUTUMN HAS ARRIVED AT KCC SHOP! 🎃🍂

Okay, technically it’s still August… but in my defence, I’m not back in the shop until after 1st September, and I simply could not wait any longer. 😂

Autumn is just my season. The colours, the crispness in the air, nature changing, Halloween, pumpkins, my fascination with witchy stuff… honestly, I don’t know what it is, but it just makes me HAPPY. 🍂🧡🎃

So when Lauren said, “You can’t put anything autumnal or Halloween in the window yet”…

Well.

I may have completely ignored her. 😂

Yesterday was a very quiet Saturday, so obviously I had to find something to do — and before you know it, the KCC Shop window had become a little autumn/Halloween display. 🎃👻🍁

And just to clarify before anyone worries… the pumpkins, ghouls and other figures in the window are DISPLAY PROPS. They are not for sale. Anything that is for sale will be clearly priced.
If it isn't priced, it isn't for sale. Simple! 😂

We don't know yet what Halloween or autumn stock we'll receive, but as a little non-profit second-hand shop, we have to work with what comes through the door. We may also look at bringing in some seasonal items ourselves if we can, because ultimately everything we do is about raising money for the cats. 🐾

And yes… the summer sale is still on! ☀️

As you walk into the foyer, you'll find our 50% OFF rail.
At the moment this includes:

• Men's, women's & children's shorts
• Summer dresses
• Sandals

Everything on that rail is 50% off the marked price — no complicated maths required! 😂

Over September you'll gradually start seeing more autumnal colours and clothing appearing, while the summer stock will eventually be put away.

So if you've had your eye on those summer bargains, September will be your last chance to grab them before they disappear for another year.

🌧️ Well… it’s raining! 🌧️

After weeks of heat and sunshine in Wales, I think we’ve all forgotten what rain feels like! 😂

I’ll admit, I wasn’t exactly prepared for it today — no coat, no umbrella… although thankfully we do have raincoats for sale in the shop!

But honestly, we’re not complaining. Wales desperately needs this rain. 💧🐾

And with September just around the corner, we’re starting to think about autumn, autumnal stock and, of course… HALLOWEEN! 🎃

🖤 My absolute favourite time of year!

We’ll be rotating some of our stock and bringing new things out over the coming weeks, so if you’re in Llanidloes, please pop in and have a look.

There’s always something new to discover, and your purchases really do help us to help the cats. ❤️

But sometimes we forget to show you exactly who you’re helping, so today we wanted to introduce you to some of the newest members of the KCC family…

These little ones are just some of the cats who are currently in our care and who, when they’re ready, will be looking for the right homes.

Some of our cats need particularly calm, patient and understanding homes — but every single one deserves the chance to have that home. 🏡❤️

And this is what KCC is all about.

Every penny spent in the shop, every donation, every item donated and every minute given by our volunteers helps us care for animals who need us.

The shop is just one part of what we do. The cats are always at the heart of it. Always. 🐾❤️

So, even if the weather isn’t particularly inviting today, why not pop in, say hello, have a browse and see what we’ve got?

You might even find an early Christmas present… because, believe it or not, that’s not too far away now! 🎄

🐾 KCC Shop Update – Friday 21st August 🐾

We’re sorry, but the KCC Shop will be closed today.

We’ve had a new emergency intake come into our care, and we also need some time to restock, sort donations, and get the back of the shop organised properly.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, as always, the cats and their care have to come first 💛

🐾 A LITTLE REMINDER ABOUT DOG POO 🐾

Can we please ask dog owners to clean up after their dogs?

We’ve had dog poo left directly outside the shop, and unfortunately that means our volunteers are left to deal with it.

Our volunteers give their time freely to help the cats. They come in to clean, organise the shop, serve customers and raise much-needed funds for the rescue — they really shouldn’t be expected to spend that time cleaning up somebody else’s dog poo.

I’m a dog owner myself, and I have never walked away and left my dogs’ poo behind. If your dog poos in a town or on a pavement, please pick it up. It really isn’t difficult.

Obviously, in some rural areas where you’re specifically asked to “stick and flick”, that’s different — but leaving dog poo on a busy high street is simply not acceptable.

So please, if you bring your dog into town, bring a poo bag with you and clean up after them. 💩

Our volunteers have enough to do without having to clean up after your dog.

We are CLOSED TODAY – Friday 7th August as we’re off to the Llangollen Faery Festival! 🧚‍♀️🌸

Our lovely volunteer will be opening the shop tomorrow, Saturday 8th August, 10am–3pm as usual! 🐾💗

If you’re attending the Llangollen Faery Festival, come and say hi if you spot us! 👋🧚‍♀️ We’d love to see you!

🐾 KCC Shop Update 🐾

We’re really sorry, but the shop will be closed today.

We also want to apologise for the disruption last week. We were away at Landed Festival from Thursday to Monday, and with very limited signal we weren’t able to keep posting updates as much as we’d hoped.

Behind the scenes, we’ve also been back and forth to the vets with poorly kittens from the feral colony we’ve been helping. Sadly, we lost one of the little kittens over the weekend 💔 We still have two remaining kittens needing close monitoring, and after several days away from the sanctuary, we also need to spend time checking, settling and catching up with all the cats in our care.

We have some amazing volunteers and are so grateful for them, but we don’t always have shop cover available, especially during the summer when everyone has commitments of their own. As a small rescue-run shop, sometimes the cats, emergencies, vet appointments and fundraising events have to come first.

Lauren will be catching up on emails today, so please email us if you need to arrange donations, collections, or check when we’ll be in.

Our Vinted shop is still open online. We will definitely be in this Friday to organise and reset everything after a very busy week.

🐾 KCC Shop Update 🐾
We’re sorry, but the shop will be closed today.
It’s been a very long week of vet appointments, poorly kittens, rescue work and everything else behind the scenes. In order to get ourselves fully prepared for Landed Festival tomorrow, we need today to catch up and get organised.
Our lovely volunteer Barbara will be in the shop tomorrow as usual, so please do pop in and say hello if you’re in Llanidloes 🛍️💛
The shop will then be closed on Friday and Saturday, but we’ll be at Landed Festival with KCC/Cwtch Cath, so come and find us there if you’re going! 🌈🐾

☀️ It's a lovely sunny day here in Llanidloes! ☀️

The KCC shop is open with plenty of summer bargains, including shorts, dresses, hats and more to help you stay cool.

Why not have a go at our Name the Cat competition or try your luck on our Teddy Tombola? 🧸 Lauren also has a stall with beautiful jewellery and gifts.

A lovely surprise today—my grandchildren have turned up to visit, which has made the day even more special. ❤️

We are, however, still saddened to see so many dogs out in this heat. Please, if you can, leave your dogs safely at home where they're cool and comfortable.

We'd love to see you if you're out enjoying the carnival today. Every purchase and every game helps support the cats at Karen's Cat Community. 🐾
