International virtuoso harpist Ben Creighton Griffiths - Music is no stranger to the big stage—he’s used to commanding massive concert halls and festival crowds worldwide. Which is why we are absolutely delighted to see him return to our tiny theatre! In comparison to those giant venues, our space offers an incredibly intimate, cosy experience where you can actually see his fingers fly across the strings. We may not be the biggest venue, but we have the biggest welcome! We are so thankful to Ben for bringing world-class jazz right to the heart of Wales.

19 Gigs Later: Why the Hard Work Matters 🪵✨

Back in January and February, when the winter lull was hitting and the nights were long, we were quietly sitting down at The Hanging Gardens Llanidloes, mapping out a vision for the year ahead.

Months of planning, endless emails, and backstage logistics later, we have already hosted 19 incredible gigs. But this week, something happened that reminded us exactly why we do this.

I was stopped in the street by someone who had attended a recent gig. He was eager to tell me how much the event impacted him—and he specifically mentioned that one of our recent events literally changed his life. Seeing how visibly uplifted he was... well, that single encounter made every ounce of behind-the-scenes hard work entirely worth it.

Music isn't just entertainment; it’s connection, healing, and community. And we are just getting started.

📸 What a night! Here are a couple of snaps from Saturday’s Open Mic Night at The Hanging Gardens.

In addition to our wonderful regulars, we got to welcome three new faces to the stage—Barry, Daniel, and Helen! We also had a brilliant last-minute walk-in: John all the way from Reno, Nevada, who absolutely delighted the crowd and left everyone wanting more! 🎤✨

We have a few important updates regarding the diary for the next few months, so please have a quick read:

🎪 July Open Mic Update
Just a heads-up that next month's Open Mic falls on Carnival Day. Because there will be so much going on around town that day, the organisers have decided to cancel July's event so everyone can enjoy the festivities!

🏗️ Summer Renovations
The theatre will be undergoing some exciting renovations throughout the rest of July and August.

☕ Please note: This does not affect the cafe! The Hanging Gardens Cafe will remain open as usual, so do pop in for your usual treats.

🍁 Looking Ahead to September & October
The second Saturday of September marks the grand reopening of the theatre! We have a fabulous duo from Canada Gordie Tentrees Music lined up for that very night. 🇨🇦

Unfortunately, that Saturday was the only date they could do for their tour. Because we couldn't miss out on hosting them, it means Open Mic will officially resume on the second Saturday in October.
