Last month marked our final meeting of the year, and not only were we pleased to conduct a Second Degree Ceremony, but we were also delighted to present a cheque to the wonderful Sandy Bear Children's Bereavement Charity (SBCBC).

When the charity was proposed to the Brethren, it received unanimous support, reflecting our shared desire to help an organisation that provides vital support to bereaved children and young people across West Wales.

Below, you can read more about the charity and the incredible work they undertake, as well as the efforts made internally to raise funds for such a worthy cause.

We encourage everyone to visit their website to learn more about the fantastic support they provide to children and families during some of life's most difficult times.

Unity Lodge 6709 donates £200 to Blood Bikes Wales

Members of Unity Lodge 6709 were delighted to invite representatives of Blood Bikes Wales to the Masonic Lodge, Llanelli on Tuesday 7th April to receive a donation from its Relief Chest scheme.

Stephen Grylls, West Area Public Relations & Corporate Fundraising, and Sean Jones, Blood Bike Rider on the Swansea bike, were greeted by Worshipful Master Kevin Thomas who was pleased to present the sum of £200 to this 100% volunteer driven charity which provides a completely free courier service to the NHS in Wales.

Stephen commented “We really appreciate your generous support helping us continue our vital service across West Wales. Contributions such as yours play a vital role in enabling us to continue providing our voluntary service to the NHS and other healthcare organisations. This donation will directly support the running costs of our service, helping to keep our motorcycles on the road, maintain essential equipment, and ensure we can continue delivering urgent medical items such as blood, samples, and medication free of charge, whenever and wherever they are needed”.

Stephen went on to thank the Lodge and its’ members for their support and generosity, and for such a welcoming and enjoyable evening.

Unity Lodge has subsequently been presented with a Certificate of Appreciation as a token of Blood Bikes Wales’ gratitude

Last night’s meeting marked the fourth and final initiation of the year — a significant achievement for the Lodge, especially considering that there were none held in the previous year. This progress reflects the dedication, commitment, and renewed energy within the Lodge, and highlights just how important these initiations are to our continued growth and strength.

A sincere thank you to all visiting Brethren who joined us. Your presence and support are always greatly appreciated and add to the spirit of our meetings.

Looking ahead, we now turn our attention to the first Tuesday of next month, where we hope to conduct a double Second Degree ceremony— an exciting step forward and another opportunity to build on the momentum we’ve created.

Thank you again to all who contributed to making this year such a success and welcome brethren.

At the Installation Meeting of Loyal Welsh Lodge, W Bro Gareth Owen, PrGDC, served as the mandated officer for the ceremony, accompanied by W Bro Noel Davies, PrSGW (PPrDepGDC), and W Bro Martin Marks, PrJGW (PPrAsstGDC). This occasion held particular significance for all three brethren, who had worked together for many years as the team of Directors of Ceremony for the Province of West Wales. The dignity with which they delivered their respective addresses to the Master, Wardens, and Brethren was both notable and commendable, and truly a pleasure to witness.

Another thoroughly enjoyable First Degree Initiation, marking the Lodge’s second ceremony of 2026.

The evening was further enhanced by the warmth and camaraderie of the Festive Board that followed, where good company, fine singing, and traditional songs were very much to the fore.

A special highlight was the Song to the New Initiate, ably performed by WBro Tudor, along with the visitors song, both of which added greatly to the spirit of the evening.

The Lodge was also pleased to raise around the £200 mark for a charitable project aimed at enabling children at Ysgol Heol Goffa with adittional needs undertake a trip to enhance their abilities and experience while building thier confidence, helping them make friends and have fun through a skiing programme that they have run for over 30years.

Our sincere thanks go to the visiting Brethren from our sister lodges in Llanelli for their attendance and support, and to all who contributed to making the occasion such a memorable and enjoyable one. Though numbers may be small, and we understand the commitments brethren have outside the craft, it was still a pleasure to have those who could attend, and look forward to the next time we meet those who could not.

We look forward to our March meeting held on the first Tuesday of the month.
