Choose2Reuse CIC is now an affiliate signatory of Textiles 2030!

Textiles 2030 is WRAP’s award-winning, ground-breaking initiative, harnessing the knowledge and expertise of UK leaders in sustainability to accelerate the UK fashion and textiles industry towards a circular economy.

It is a voluntary agreement that builds on the learning and success of the Sustainable Clothing Action Plan (SCAP 2020) and aims to engage the majority of UK fashion retail, supply, reuse and recycling organisations in collaborative climate action. We all have a part to play.

Marcus Gover, CEO of WRAP: “WRAP wants to create a world in which climate change is no longer a problem. But, with the global fashion industry being responsible for creating more emissions than all international flights and maritime shipping combined, we won’t achieve this if we don’t tackle the way clothes are produced, used and disposed of. Textiles 2030 is a dynamic and fast-paced approach to the problem with the long-term goal of radically changing how we use textiles to a more sustainable model – for all textiles in the home.”

We're all about finding creative ways to minimize waste and live more sustainably. Today, we focus on the "Reuse" part of our mission. ♻️ As it was our COO Tony Holmes birthday (Happy Birthday TONY!) yesterday this gives us thought on gift giving and wrapping!

💡 Tip of the Day: Rethink Gift Wrapping 💡
Single-use wrapping paper and gift bags often end up in landfill, consider these eco-friendly alternatives:

🎁 Fabric Wraps: Use colourful cloth to wrap your gifts. They're reusable and can be part of the gift itself!

🌿 Natural Elements: Get creative with natural elements like leaves, twine, or pinecones to add a rustic touch to your presents.

It’s our anniversary!! 🎉7 Years of Choose2Reuse CIC! 🎉
Wow, how time flies when you're on the march toward a more sustainable Wales! This week, we are thrilled to mark the 7th anniversary of Choose2Reuse CIC, and what an incredible journey it has been!
🌿🌟 Over these 7 years, we've accomplished so much together:
Reduced waste to landfill: We've helped preserve and prolong the life of thousands upon thousands of tonnes of textiles and second-hand items, critically keeping them out of landfill and reducing our contribution to GHG.
Community links: Our passionate community has grown, and we've inspired countless individuals to make eco-friendly choices, supported many craft initiatives and worked with multiple schools to help improve spaces, provide education on recycling and to fundraise for their important causes.
Partnerships: Thanks to our amazing partnerships with companies and charity organisations, we've continued expanded our reach and impact. All this ultimately increases our ability to help our community and create a positive impact in our locale.
Firstly, we would like to thank our amazing, dedicated team for helping us achieve all our goals, big or small! Secondly, none of this would have been possible without YOU! Your support, dedication, and commitment to our community interest company has been the driving force behind our success.
As we look ahead to the future, we're filled with hope and determination. We'll continue to innovate, inspire, and advocate for a more sustainable Wales. Together, we can be even greater!

We had the pleasure of helping out Ysgol Gymraeg Llangennech this week. These lovely ladies dropped by to pick up some donated items and explained their inspiring plans to make classrooms more natural and calming, by bringing earthy fibres and colours in to replace stark materials and garish colours we have used in the past.

Mae natur bob amser wedi bod yn ffynhonnell wych o ysbrydoliaeth, heddwch, a harmoni. Integrating natural elements into the classroom has several benefits. It not only creates a serene and calming atmosphere, but it also encourages children to learn more about the world around them.

The idea has sometimes be attributed to the Scandinavian concept "hygge". The heart of hygge is about fostering a sense of warmth and community. In this application it’s something that helps students relax, find comfort, be together, and ultimately be inspired to learn.

Can't wait to see how these rooms turn out, da iawn a pob lwc!
