Llanelli Unites

Llanelli Unites This is the official page of Llanelli Unites, a constituted community group set up to promote community cohesion. I can’t wait!

We celebrate diversity and multiculturalism and will work to support individuals and groups working with diverse communities. I was re-elected as town councillor for Elli ward on May 5th 2022. Thank you to everyone who voted for me. It is an honour and a pleasure to represent Elli at the town council and to help to resolve the issues that residents may raise. On the the 18th of May 2022 I was appo

inted as Deputy Town Mayor for Llanelli. I am deeply indebted to my colleagues in the council who nominated me and for the trust that they have placed in me to carry out the duties and obligations of the position. I will always do my best to repay my debt of gratitude to them. I have been delighted to help establish the Rose Garden community garden project on the corner of New Road and Stradey Park Avenue. I look forward to working with this fantastic group transforming our environment and providing a public space for everything from moments of peaceful reflection to a vibrant street party for the Platinum Jubilee in June. You can keep up-to-date with what's going on in The Rose Garden via the page .

Massive thanks to everyone who helped out on, or stopped by, our stall at Gŵyl Tawe today. It was an incredibly positive, uplifting and productive day.

The message was clear: the vast majority of people in Wales value diversity and reject prejudice. Black, white, young, old, disabled, non-disabled, straight, gay, trans, Welsh-speaking or not — our strength lies in standing together.

At a time when some seek to divide us, today was a reminder that solidarity is stronger than hate. By building unity in our communities, workplaces, schools and streets, we can turn the tide on racism and create a better future for everyone.

Thanks again to everyone who took part. The fight against racism is one we can win — together. ✊❤️🖤🤍💚

There’s a lot of talk about "two-tier policing" right now, particularly in the aftermath of the recent tragedy in Southampton. But if we look at the actual data rather than the populist rhetoric, what does the evidence say?

We are fortunate to live in a democracy with rigorous checks and balances that constantly scrutinize our institutions. Thanks to independent reviews and official statistics, we don't have to guess how the police are performing. The reality is that there is a long-standing two-tier system, but the hard facts show it consistently disadvantages Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) citizens while favoring white people.

I’ve put together a clear summary of the real data. You can read the facts for yourself (link in the comments)—or you can ignore the evidence and repeat the jingoistic chants of those who want to tear down the very systems that protect our democracy.

Read the summary in the comments below. 👇

To mark the 10th anniversary of MP Jo Cox’s legacy of unity, we’re throwing a gig at the World Horizons Art Space at North Dock on Friday, June 19th. We're talking reggae, punk, electronica, and drum & bass all under one roof.
Wait, where has the roof gone?

Never stop building community for those that need our support. Never stop calling out the inhumanity of those that say it's not our problem.
