💔 A Message from our founder 💔
Over the last week I have been in discussions with our board, and together we have made the very difficult decision to close Mental Health Swims. This comes after over a year of doing everything we possibly could to secure sustainable long-term funding.
We’ve explored every option and tried to be optimistic when ideas didn’t work out as we hoped. The reality is that the funding landscape has changed and it’s a really challenging time for third sector organisations. Grants are fewer and oversubscribed, and despite some promising prospects, we’ve now run out of options. In the last week, we received the news that we were unsuccessful with a critical funding bid, and without that support in place we are now without the time to develop a long-term funding plan we simply can’t continue to operate in the future.
�We’ve shared the news with our partners and volunteers and have asked that they begin the process of notifying their swimmers. Mental Health Swims will officially close today.
We know this news will come as a shock. For many of you, Mental Health Swims has been a lifeline. Some of you have just started swimming with us; others have been part of this community for five years or more. No matter where you are on your journey, please know this: � �We are so proud of what we built together, and we are heartbroken to let it go. � �We didn’t come to this decision lightly. We have given it absolutely everything. � �If you’re feeling unsettled or overwhelmed by this news, please don’t struggle alone. Reach out to the support services listed above, you are not alone, and help is still available. � �With all my heart, thank you for being part of this community. Without you we would never have existed.
