The Society was formed over 50 years ago as a result of 3 people meeting in a café in Llandudno. It has grown slowly to its present size with a membership in the region of 70 members. The Society aims to foster an interest in engineering through the construction of model engines of all kinds. Many members have had no previous training in engineering but with the help of other members have been abl
e to gain such skills as necessary to produce or maintain working models. We also welcome members without any engineering background but interested in gardening, building or general DIY to help in the development, maintenance and operation of a miniature railway. Members are encouraged to take part in the public running events the Society holds and appropriate training on all aspects of running such events, including the driving and maintenance of live steam model locomotives, is available to those wishing to participate. Public running takes place most Saturday afternoons and Bank Holiday Weekends, weather permitting, from Easter to October. The track provides the Society with the opportunity for the general public to experience riding behind live steam and Diesel outline model locomotives . Donations from the rides help towards our developments at West Shore and to support local charities. During the winter we meet once each month with a mixture of talks on diverse topics, video evenings and there is always the opportunity to discuss the latest engineering problems members may have encountered in their model making. Interested members of the general public are welcome at these meetings. The meetings are currently held at the Craig y Don Community Centre, Queens Rd. Finally, if you are interested in helping us to build, run and maintain a miniature railway, then why not get in touch. You will find us at our West Shore Site where you can be sure of a cup of tea or coffee and friendly welcome. You can contact us by email at [email protected] or just show up for a chat on a Wednesday or Saturday.
