⚜️ IN MEMORY OF SIR FRANCIS FLETCHER VANE

October 16, 1861 – October 16, 2026

Today, we commemorate the birth of Sir Francis Fletcher Vane, a significant figure in the early history of The Order of World Scouts.

His legacy invites us to look beyond the uniform, the badges, and the titles, and to recognize what truly matters in Scouting: building character, serving others, and turning our ideals into action.

Time may take away those who first paved the way, but it cannot erase the mark left by those who planted ideals capable of inspiring generations.

Remembering Vane means more than honoring history; it means accepting the responsibility to keep the spirit of Scouting alive through our actions, our service, and our commitment to future generations.

May his memory remind us that a Scout's true legacy is not measured by what we wear on our uniform, but by the good we leave behind in the world.

Always ready to serve.
