Llandeilo 55 Plus is a friendly, welcoming club for older adults in and around Llandeilo who enjoy good company, great entertainment, and days out together. We’re all about community, laughter, and staying active — whether that’s through social afternoons, games, music, or exploring places with our coach trips. For details please contact Colin 07853 017 116

HOPE provides free, independent advocacy support to older people (50+) and carers, helping them have a voice in decisions that affect their lives. The project is delivered in partnership with Age Cymru Dyfed.

Supporting older people is something I am truly passionate about, and with strong connections within our local community, I am excited to see HOPE making a meaningful difference here. I am told that historically raising the profile of HOPE in this area has been challenging, and I am keen to change that. Local groups play such an important role in keeping people connected, active, and confident, and I would be grateful if you could share HOPE with those who might benefit from our support.

In addition to raising awareness of advocacy services, we are also looking to strengthen our team of volunteer advocates. Many members of local groups have a wealth of experience, empathy and communication skills, and even a handful of volunteers can make a huge difference for older people who need help navigating services, speaking up or having their voices heard.

In addition to recruiting and training Independent Volunteer Advocates, we are also looking for Ambassadors for the project. Ambassadors help raise awareness of HOPE and promote the benefits of advocacy within their communities. The role is very flexible, it can be as simple as holding a stock of physical resources and leaflets to share in the local area to attending events and groups to speak about the project. There is no expectation and the level of involvement is entirely up to the volunteer. We provide training for the role, after which the volunteer would become a part of the HOPE team and receive regular updates and development opportunities. I would very much like to have an ambassador in the Llandeilo area, if anyone involved with the Community Hub may be interested in becoming an Ambassador (or an Independent Volunteer Advocate).

We are bringing our social club for people with learning disabilities and autism to The White Hart every Wednesday and are looking to our fabulous community to help provide experiences (eg crafts, dancing etc) for them to take part in perhaps every other week if possible. We run from 5-7 and can have numbers between 65 and 90 on a weekly basis and abilities are extremely varied but we endeavour to include each and every fabulous member in anything we do. If you feel you have a skill you can share every now and again please let me know. They’re an amazing bunch, they love dancing and crafts and we’d really love our community to be as involved as possible. One of the biggest reasons we’ve move to Llandeilo is because of the huge amount of support the town has given us so if you’d like to be involved or even just come down to see what we’re all about we’d love to hear from you.
Thanks so much for reading ❤️
