On 13th June, we came together with Care4Calais for the Refugee Festival Scotland Mini Football Tournament, a day that was about far more than just football.
Six teams. One trophy. Endless energy.
From the first whistle to the final moments, the pitch became a place of connection, belonging, and shared identity. The matches were competitive, passionate, and full of quality, but the real impact went far beyond the scorelines.
At P4F, football has brought so much of our community together, and time and again we've seen its power to transform lives. We don't just compete β we support one another, build each other up, and walk away with far more than wins, medals, or praise.
The tournament was created to help refugees and people seeking asylum build friendships, strengthen community ties, and develop a genuine sense of belonging. Through sport, barriers were broken down, connections were made, and people found a space where they could simply be themselves.
As Refugee Festival Scotland celebrates the contribution, creativity, and resilience of refugees and people seeking asylum, this event reflected that spirit perfectly. For many, sport can provide a sense of community in a place they may still be learning to call home.
While one team lifted the trophy, everyone who took part was part of something bigger than the game. Experiences like these remind us why community sport matters and why creating welcoming spaces is so important.
We hope events like this continue to show that everyone can find a place where they belong.
