Our members were out today installing bat boxes at Polkemmet Country Park.

These boxes were funded by the Climate Action West Lothian Eco Fund!

The boxes will provide valuable roosting sites for our native bat species and support their populations locally.

The boxes will be monitored by our members in the autumn, this will provide valuable data on abundance and distribution of the species in this area and allow members valuable experience as they work towards their bat survey licences!

Last week CSWG volunteers supported GCN habitat enhancement work at Calderwood SSSI. Working with the West Lothian Ranger Service, we carried out the work under licence, focusing on removing New Zealand Pygmyweed from the ponds. The cut material is being left to dry and break down before being bagged and taken off site to reduce the risk of further spread.

Thanks to everyone who came along!

Check out our progress from the last two sessions, and keep an eye on this page for future dates.

Join us this Thursday, 19 February, for the second round and get involved in monitoring local badger activity across the area. Photos from our first visit below.
