Scottish Burned Children's Club

Scottish Burned Children's Club Be curious, not judgemental. The Club is an organisation that helps children, up to the age of eighteen, who have sustained burn and scald injuries.

The main aims of the charity are two fold, firstly to help in the rehabilitation process of the children and to provide a support network for their family. Secondly it is the club's aim to play a key role in the reduction of such injuries by raising awareness of the problem and promoting safe practice in relation to the dangers associated with burns and scalds. Burn and scald accidents are one of

the most horrific and painful injuries that can occur to anyone, not only do they produce physical trauma but also result in psychological trauma. When a child is injured the whole familiar affected. Unlike any other injury, burn and scalds leave a life long scar, which no matter how small or large act as a reminder to the family as well as the child of the trauma they have been through. The child must also grow up knowing their body image is different, knocking their confidence at a time when the normal processes of growing up are stressful enough. Therefore positive support is required to help the burn survivors realise that although their body image has been altered their hopes and dreams are still the same as any other child and just as achievable. With continued support, positive encouragement and the courage and determination that has helped them so far we hope to see each child realise their dreams and goals. As well as providing positive support for the families of burn survivor children. The SBCC organises a series of day trips, special events and visits to various organisations throughout the year for the children. An annual week long summer camp, targeted at 8-18 year olds will be highlight of the year, where the youngsters meet up with each other to talk, share experiences and to make friends with others in similar situation, but above all to have fun. All of this takes commitment and money in order that as many children as possible are given the opportunity to take part. The SBCC is solely funded by sponsorship and donations and is run and organised by volunteers.

Wow!

What an amazing task Andrew is taking on to raise vital funds for the Scottish Burned Children’s Club!

His daughter Selena was unfortunately injured with a hot scald injury and he now wants to raise funds for the club- see his Just Giving page below.

He is kicking off our 25 year anniversary in an absolute crazy way, he’s mental, but we love it πŸ€ͺπŸ€ͺ

He’s raised over half his target in 24 hours- let’s him him get that rest πŸ™β€οΈ
