๐Ÿฆซ SENIOR BEAVERS ARE โ€œBORN READY!โ€ ๐Ÿฆซ

At 6pm on Friday, 9 Beavers arrived at The Craigs ready for an adventure.

20 hours later, 9 smiling Senior Beavers went home and 3 slightly more weary Leaders began contemplating a very large cup of tea. ๐Ÿ˜‚โ˜•

What happened in between? Well, we canโ€™t possibly tell you everything. We have to keep a few secrets for next year! ๐Ÿคซ

But we can reveal there was...
๐ŸŒ™ exploring after dark with some unexpected wildlife encounters
โœจ a little stargazing-inspired creativity
๐ŸŽณ a rather secretive bowling alley
๐Ÿฅž pancakes which apparently CAN contain ALL the toppings without technically being โ€œoverloadedโ€
๐Ÿ”ฅ new skills involving fire, marshmallows and plenty of responsibility
๐Ÿชข knot-tying made considerably tastier with strawberry laces
๐ŸŒฒ the inevitable woodland den โ€œimprovementsโ€
๐Ÿ•ต๏ธ and a mystery requiring some serious detective work...

Somewhere amongst all that was teamwork, cooking, washing-up, challenges, independence and a surprising amount of responsibility.

There may also have been yoga. ๐Ÿง˜
Because obviously the logical way to end an action-packed evening with nine Beavers is to convince them they are now calm and ready for sleep. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And then something truly extraordinary happened...

THEY ACTUALLY WENT TO SLEEP! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

No tiptoeing. No mysterious urgent toilet trips. No inventive reasons for getting out of bed.

Just sleep.

(Although anyone within earshot of Rabbitโ€™s snoring may dispute the word peaceful. ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿ˜‚)

But behind all the laughs, the thing that impressed us most was our Beavers themselves. ๐Ÿ’™

Every single one threw themselves into every activity. They listened, worked safely, helped each other, tried new things and showed us just how capable and responsible our older Beavers can be.

And not one behaviour strike all weekend. โญ

When one Beaver announced โ€œI WAS BORN READY!โ€, it turned out that pretty much summed up the whole group.
20 hours. 9 brilliant Beavers. 3 tired Leaders. Lots of new skills, even more laughs, and some fantastic memories. ๐Ÿฆซ๐Ÿ’™

Senior Beaver Sleepover 2026: completed! โœ…
Would we do it all again?
Absolutely... just give Rabbit, Hedgehog and Bear a little time to recover first. ๐Ÿ˜‚
See you next year! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿฆซ

๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ Good luck Danielle! ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

Everyone at 14th West Lothian Scouts would like to send a HUGE good luck to Danielle Sowersby who will be taking on the Edinburgh Kiltwalk this Sunday! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ

Danielle is a family friend of one of our Beavers and had very kindly chosen to support our Scout Group through her fundraising efforts. We are incredibly grateful that she's taking on this challenge to help us continue providing adventurous fun and memorable experiences for young people in our area.

From all of our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Leaders &Trustees a massive THANK YOU for taking on this challenge. We'll be cheering you on every step of the way (from the comfort of our sofas or tents naturally ๐Ÿคญ)

If anyone would like to support Danielle and give her an extra boost for those miles ahead, please consider donating via her JustGiving page.

Let's help Danielle smash her fundraising target and show her how much her support means to us!!

Good luck Danielle! May your blisters be few, the Scottish weather be kind and the finish line appear sooner than expected. ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿฅพ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธโšœ๏ธ

14th West Lothian Cubs have been busy this week taking part in a litter pick around Eliburn Park.

We filled 5 bags in less than an hour!

The Cubs really enjoyed helping our community. They collected lots of single use plastics and had a good discussion about reusing and recycling.

What a lovely day we had today, sharing our pride of making a positive difference in our community (as well as enjoying fun & adventure) with our wider 'family' of Scouts across the District. Thank you so much to all our families who supported us by coming along today and to our amazing flagbearers who represented us beautifully. โšœ๏ธ๐Ÿค—

So immensely proud of both our teams today!! One team got the highest score but the other won the Trophy (after calculations of averages depending how many Beavers were in the team). They showed amazing teamwork, awesome skills and even enjoyed a bit of fence painting to help our campsite team. ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜ โšœ๏ธ

๐Ÿš“โœจ Wow โ€“ what an exciting evening for our Beavers! โœจ๐Ÿš“

Last night, our Beavers had a fantastic visit to our local heroes at Police Scotland, and what an experience it was!

The youngsters learned all about how officers help keep our community safe, discovered what CID does, and were given a behind-the-scenes tour of the station. From the briefing room and gym to the break room, office areas, and even the custody suites โ€” they heard how visitors are kept safeโ€ฆ and why the beds are definitely hard enough to stop anyone wanting to come back! ๐Ÿ˜„

The excitement didnโ€™t stop there! The Beavers also got to sit inside a police vehicle and, if they were brave enough, experience what itโ€™s like to be shut in the back with one lucky Beaver switching on the siren & lighting the sky blue! ๐Ÿš”. To finish off, there was a fun dress-up session filled with huge enthusiasm and big smiles. Weโ€™re pretty sure we spotted a few future officers or detectives in the making! ๐Ÿ˜‰

A huge thank you to Scott & Emma for such an engaging and memorable visit, and to Police Scotland for everything they do to keep us safe ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ

Leaders get all this - and more!

Please think about helping out in our Group.

22 Scouts want to do more things but we donโ€™t have enough adults to do them as people are already busy with our Groupโ€™s Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Explorers and Trustee Board.
