(The) Magic (of) Mushrooms.
Members of the Livingston Arts Association Photography Group headed off to the Wild Wildernesses of West Calder ( … well … Hermand Birch Wood, to be exact) on Sunday 13th September in order to forage for, find, and photograph the area’s magnificent Mycoflora.
They were not to be disappointed: the shade afforded by the Birch trees, the mild temperatures and the fact that recent rains had left the earth damp and spongy underfoot offered prime growing conditions for woodland mushrooms, and they were found in abundance.
For the next two hours, the sounds of bird-song which rang through the quiet copse was accompanied by the fervent clicking of camera shutters as our hardy band harvested their images.
