Come along to celebrate Scottish talent while being entertained and educated.

We're excited about the possibilities for future community facilities in Murieston. Just because the current hall is not going to be under community management doesn't mean the future is bleak. Come along to the MCDT AGM to discuss proposals.

IMPORTANT NEWS!

West Lothian Council have intimated to us that they will be running Murieston Village Hall from 1st April 2026. All bookings for April or later must be made directly with the Council. We will post further information on the Council booking process if we find out more at a later date.

This is in common with 32 other community centres in West Lothian as part of a Council policy approved last October by the Council executive. Despite our efforts to suggest more cost-effective working and a Council promise of engagement, our proposal fell on deaf ears and was not discussed further after initial presentation to the Council.

For Murieston Initiative, we will no longer have involvement with Murieston Village Hall after 31st March but our charity will continue with our objective to benefit the residents of Murieston with efforts to advance education and to assist in the provision of recreation facilities.

Users of Murieston Village Hall, please read and comment on this post if the future of the hall matters to you. The Council propose taking on over £500,000 of business rates for all community centres in West Lothian and then charging users to cover all their costs. Will your group survive these changes?

Cafe is on tomorrow - 11am-1:30pm.

Cafe is on tomorrow - 11am-1:30pm.

Murieston Community Cafe will be open at Murieston Village Hall this Saturday 11th October 11am-1:30pm. This week's freshly-made soup is lentil. Cakes straight out of the oven will be shortbread, banana muffins and spiced apple cake made with beautiful locally-grown apples donated by one of our customers. We will also be serving sandwiches and hot and cold drinks. We're looking forward to seeing you again! Come and say hello.

If you're coming by car, park at Livingston South Railway Station and walk through the tunnel under the railway next to the lift. Bus 9 runs hourly to the station from the centre.

The cafe will not run on 18th or 25th October as it is the school holiday. Next opening date after this week will be 1st November 11am-1:30pm.
