🏡 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲! 🏡

Join us 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 for our public meeting 𝗮𝘁 𝟳:𝟯𝟬 𝗣𝗠 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹! It's a great chance to catch up on what's happening in the area and share any local concerns or ideas you have.

This meeting will be followed by a meeting of the Bellsquarry Village Hall association immediately afterwards.

This will also be the last public meeting of the current community council, and at present there will likely not be any further meetings after this as there were not enough nominations to stand in the Community Council election.
However West Lothian Council are always keen to have Community Councils continue so we'd still encourage anyone wishing to be part of the Community Council to get in touch.

In the meantime, we're looking forward to seeing everyone at the meeting! 🏡

You may have already had a text message or seen other posts about this online, however this weekend the UK Government will be carrying out a national test of the UK Emergency Alerts system.

📅 This test will take place around 𝟯𝗽𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿.

👉 𝗧𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼, head to https://www.gov.uk/alerts/public-testing

A test alert will be sent to all compatible 4G and 5G mobile phones and tablets across the UK. If you remember them from recent uses or past tests, you'll know they can be quite startling and are very good at grabbing attention!

Nominations close at 5pm this Thursday 4th September for the upcoming Community Council elections!

Bellsquarry & Adambrae Community Council is at risk of dissolution should there be no new nominations to stand as a Community Councillor, thus losing this hyper-local representation for the residents of Adambrae, Bellsquarry, Brotherton and Limefield.

Community Councils exist to express the views of the community to local authorities and other public bodies, and to take action in the interests of the local community. They don't always get it right, but they are a vital part of local democracy.

A reminder that in advance of the upcoming Community Council elections (nominations close on 4th September at 5pm!), the Joint Forum of Community Councils in West Lothian are running a number of information sessions 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 for anyone who would like to learn more about what is involved in becoming a Community Councillor.

🤝 There are two in person sessions:
- Thursday 28th August at 2pm in the Bathgate Partnership Centre
- Monday 1st September at 6:30pm in the Broxburn Partnership Centre

💻 Whilst the in person sessions are recommended, there will be an online session:
- Thursday 28th August at 7pm

The UK's largest ever su***de prevention initiative is coming to West Lothian.

The Baton of Hope Tour, is coming to West Lothian on Friday 5th September and has officially entered the 10-week countdown
The Baton of Hope Tour aims to bring about change in how we as a a society approach su***de. In how we talk about it and in how we support those affected by it.

West Lothian is the only Scottish stop on the tour. Please see the poster below for details. Come along on the day and provide your support to the baton bearers.

Our next meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday 6th October at 19:30 in Bellsquarry Village Hall. We would love to see you there!

This will be the last meeting of the current Community Council and will take place after the deadline for submissions to stand in the upcoming elections has passed. 🚌 West Lothian Council and SEStran are looking for the views of West Lothian residents regarding bus services in the area. Please see the shared post below for more information.

As an aside and before anyone mentions it, we can already hear the chorus of "what buses?", however the more bus users there are who fill out surveys like this the more these organisations will be aware of residents views and can be held accountable against that.

If you are a bus user in the area, please take the time to fill this out.

The views of West Lothian residents are being sought for a regional questionnaire on bus services.
SEStran, the South East of Scotland Transport Partnership, are looking to create a bus strategy covering the whole of their region, which includes West Lothian.
They would like to understand the views, opinions and experiences of local bus users, so please take the survey to ensure West Lothian voices are included.

The survey asks questions about:

⦁ Levels of bus service – how well bus times and routes meet day to day needs
⦁ Cost
⦁ The impact of delays and route changes
⦁ Types of tickets available
⦁ Bus information and customer service
⦁ Bus drivers
⦁ Bus stops, bus stations and park and rides
⦁ The bus vehicles
⦁ Safety, security and inclusion
