Following yesterday’s sad announcement that Billy Haggarty had passed away…we thought we would dig deep into the archives and remind the people of West Lothian of the Billy we knew and loved…and the mischief he got up to…and the amazing presenter and broadcaster that he was.

He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him…but he wouldn’t want us to be sad…he’d want us to be smiling looking at some of these beauties.

Billy was a long serving member of the Radio Grapevine gang, with his long running rock show “Billy’s Bit in the Middle”...

Billy was a long serving member of the Radio Grapevine gang, with his long running rock show “Billy’s Bit in the Middle” playing out to the patients and staff of St John’s Hospital (and Tippethill and St Michael’s in those days too).

Billy also had a wicked sense of humour and there are even rumours he wondered the corridors of St John’s one Halloween in a costume that was anything but appropriate!

Billy’s influence on our members over many years will never be forgotten…nor will his shirtless broadcasts in the height of summer from our sweltering studio in St John’s. There is definitely photographic evidence of that in our archives…but perhaps not for public publication just yet!

Billy, here’s to you! You will be missed by all who knew you, and all who listened to you!
