Day 7/7 🧠

Mental Health Awareness Week may be ending, but the conversations shouldn’t stop here.

Over the past week we’ve shared what young people told us they need: to feel heard, safe, supported and understood. We’ve spoken about stigma, pressure, school, community and the importance of real support.

Real change starts with listening to young people and taking action on what they’re telling us.

Thank you to everyone who engaged with this series, shared posts and helped keep these conversations going 💬

Day 6/7 🧠

Mental health conversations shouldn’t feel awkward, embarrassing or impossible to start. Sometimes just checking in, listening or making space for someone to talk can make more of a difference than we realise.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we wanted to remind people that conversations matter, listening matters and young people matter ❤️

Day 5/7 🧠

We asked our Young Leaders Group about their experiences of mental health, school, support and the environments around them.

The responses showed just how much pressure young people are carrying, from school expectations and future worries to feeling unheard and unsupported.

Young people told us that support doesn’t always feel accessible, safe or easy to reach. They spoke about wanting spaces where they feel listened to, understood and able to ask for help without judgement.

Mental health can be shaped by schools, communities, safety, stigma and the systems around us.

Real change starts with listening to young people. ❤️‍🩹

Day 4/7 🧠

Supporting others doesn’t always mean having the perfect words or knowing exactly what to do. ❤️‍🩹

Sometimes support looks like listening, checking in consistently, sitting with someone after a hard day or simply reminding them that they matter.

People don’t always need solutions, sometimes they just need space to talk, someone who cares and reassurance that they don’t have to go through things alone.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re reminding people that support can start small, and still make a big difference.

Day 3/7

Action for mental health doesn’t always have to mean doing something big. ❤️‍🩹

Sometimes it looks like resting, setting boundaries, asking for help, taking a break or simply checking in with yourself.

Looking after yourself can feel overwhelming when life feels heavy and what helps one person might not help someone else. That’s okay. Small things still matter.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re reminding young people that they are worth supporting.

Day 2/7 🧠

Mental health is shaped by more than what happens internally, it can also be shaped by the environments young people grow up in.

Through our research exploring the impact of crime on young people’s mental health in Liverpool’s L8 area, young people and professionals spoke about violence, emotional numbness, lack of support and the long-term impact these experiences can have.

These quotes can be difficult to read, but they reflect real lived experiences shared throughout our research. Listening to young people means listening to the realities they face every day.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re highlighting why youth voice, safe communities and accessible support matter ❤️‍🩹

🧠 Mental Health Awareness Week starts today.

This year’s theme is action. Awareness is always important, but real change happens when we take action for ourselves, for others and for our communities.

At Equal Vision, we know mental health doesn’t exist in isolation. Through our youth-led research, young people have told us how things like crime, feeling unsafe and lack of support can shape wellbeing and mental health.

Over the next week, we’ll be sharing:
💬 Real experiences
📢 Youth voice & empowerment
🤝 Ways to take action

We believe young people deserve to feel heard, supported, and hopeful about their futures. That starts with listening to lived experiences and creating meaningful change together.

We hope these conversations help shine a light on the importance of accessible support, safe communities and making sure young people feel heard. 💙

We’re taking on a 13.4 mile (21.5km) sponsored walk to raise money for IT training for young people in Liverpool 🌟

Not every young person gets the same opportunities. At Equal Vision, we work with young people facing disadvantage to help build confidence, develop skills and access opportunities that can shape their future.

This walk will help fund IT training, giving young people the chance to build digital skills, grow in confidence and access opportunities in education and employment.

On 26th July, our staff, volunteers and young leaders (aged 14+) will be walking from West Kirby to Birkenhead, before finishing the journey into Liverpool.

If you’re able to support us, we’d really appreciate it:
