As Baby Loss Awareness Week comes to a close, we’re proud to share a real step forward in baby loss care at Liverpool Women’s Hospital. 💜
On Tuesday, we officially opened three bereavement rooms on our gynaecology ward. This was about more than cutting a ribbon. These rooms mean that whatever stage of pregnancy a woman loses her baby, she will receive the same comfort, dignity and care in every area of our hospital.
The rooms were opened by Julie Lawson BEM DL and were made possible by our supporters, who raised funds through our appeal.
They are safe, warm and welcoming places where women can have privacy, comfort and space for the people they love, with our specially trained staff close by.
We were delighted to be joined by our Honeysuckle ambassador Simon Krol, 4Louis and HSBC representatives, who were all a vital part of this project. We were also joined by the Linacre Ukulele Group, who perform throughout the year and donate everything they raise to Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity. They presented a further £6,000 at the opening.
Thank you to the many clinical staff who were so committed to making this happen, and to the advocates from outside the hospital who championed it alongside us.
