Ep3. R E D. After Reign touched The Void, things split.

VIBE felt louder. Like the whole building had turned up its own volume.

Maybe it was the heatwave. Maybe it was The Void. Maybe it was both.

The bar room was boiling. The booths were full. The stage lights felt brighter. Even the air felt red.

Last week, one person came dressed as a clown. This week, there were two. No one questioned it. That’s how we knew things were getting stranger.

In the bar room people stepped up for the cup stacking challenge. When it was over, Alfie had won the VIBE RED snapback.

Mel won some socks in an Evil Laugh contest and everyone played Dance or Dare.

Red wasn’t just a colour. Red was power, confidence, volume. The part of you that wants to be seen and heard.

Blaise was DJing in the basement. The music bounced off the graffiti and neon lights. The arcade machine flashed in the corner. The bass reverberated up through the floorboards like a heartbeat.

Some people leaned into it. The noise. The chaos.

For some, it felt right.

Outside, red energy spilled out into the garden.

Kris and Georgina saw the old wooden sheds and started talking with Paul about starting their own business in the summer holidays, making mocktails and food to sell.

Aaron heard them and something switched on. “I’m an entrepreneur” he said. Last summer, he ran Citadel of Gifts. Now he wanted to reopen it.

Red energy isn’t just shouting or performing. It’s having the courage to say, “I can do this.”

Kai noticed it, sat on the garden fence with Katie and Mollie. The way the night seemed to push people forward. The way quiet ideas became real plans. The way this VIBE made everyone feel bigger.

But he also noticed the heat. The speed. The way red kept spreading through the building… through the people.

The basement walls glowed with a deep red hue. The building felt awake. And in the dark, past the arcade machine, beyond the gym, The Void waited.

Not empty. Not finished. Just watching what red would do next. A hooded figure sneaked behind the tarp and spray painted “RED RULES”.

Last week, Reign woke something up.

This week, VIBE turned up the volume.

Last night… VIBE turned RED

[The_Shift] Ep 2.
By the next Thursday, Kai had told no one about the portal or the glasses.
He tried to act normal... until Maisie came running upstairs.
“OMG! There’s a cat in the basement.”

At first everyone laughed.
Then someone saw one in The Pink Palace. Another by the arcade machine. Another in the gym.
James shouted, “There’s loads of them!”
Not playing.
Not scared.
Watching.
Every cat was facing the same direction...
Toward The Void.

Kai felt the glasses in his pocket. The same ones that had shown him the portal last week.
Downstairs, the neon bounced off the graffiti. The arcade machine blinked. Jess was unusually quiet.

The cats were everywhere. Even in the lounge, on the bar, under the tables.
All staring.
They say cats don’t just see what’s there.
They feel what isn’t.
Then Reign came bouncing down the stairs.
She had been in the bar playing rockband with Abbi and Tommy. She never usually came to the basement.
She looked at the cats.
Then toward the gym.
“What’s everyone scared of?”
“No one’s scared,” Lottie said.

A cat hissed.

Everyone moved back.

Reign smiled.

Kai felt the glasses go cold.
“Don’t,” he said.
“Don’t go near it. Don’t touch it... Don’t wake up whatever is inside it.”

But Reign was already walking.
The cats moved out of her way, forging a path towards The Void.
Like they had been waiting for her too.
Paw prints glistened on the matte black floor.
Through the red and blue lenses, Kai saw it again.
The portal.
Swirling purple energy.
Reign reached out.
“Reign. Don’t touch it.”
She looked back.
Not scared.
“Why?”
Then she placed her hand on the wall.
The whole building shifted.
A pulse through the floor.
A surge through the walls.
The microphone screeched. Pool balls rolled by themselves. Upstairs, the pink hideout lights flashed red. Then blue. Then purple.
The cats scattered.
Kai stumbled backwards.
The glasses slipped from his hand.

CRACK.

The red lens split from the blue.
Last week, Kai found something.
This week, Reign woke it up.
The Void was not finished.
The colours were not together anymore.
Not just in the basement.
Not just in VIBE.
In everyone.

Something shifted.

[The_Shift] Episode 1.

Nobody really knows when it started. Some say it was during the final episode when the building was too full. Too much energy.

But Kai knew better. It started when the room began watching back.

By half six the queue engulfed the street. This was normal for a thursday at VIBE. People laughing and catching up, waiting to be signed in. Inside Lilly and Aoife were behind the bar serving glam (and Greggs). The booths were filling up and Luke was asking about karaoke. Upstairs the hideout glowed pink under the LED lights.

It was loud. It was busy. It was home.

Kai was still kinda new to VIBE. He mostly stayed upstairs with Kris or in the lounge with Molly, watching before joining in. He noticed things that other people missed. A change in someone's voice or a light flickering when it shouldn't.

That night the music cut out for a second. The lights went brighter before fading. Everyone else carried on. Kai looked to the basement.

He walked past Charlotte and Grace in the Pink Palace, past the year 10s (all 6 of them squeezed on one chair), past the arcade machine, beyond the VR set up in the gym.

At the very back of the basement was The Void. A small black room. Black walls. Black floor. Black ceiling.

Last season it was barely a room. Now it felt like it was waiting. drawing him in.

He looked at his phone screen and the strangest thing appeared. Although his phone was switched off, when he pointed it toward the void his camera showed a portal. A swirling purple energy that seemingly appeared from nowhere.

On the floor Kai found a pair of 3d glasses, left over from Season 6.

Red lens. Blue lens.

When he lifted them to his face he could see the portal through the lenses. He put them on.

The room changed. Not physically, but underneath everything he could see lines. Blue lines running through the floor. Red lines pulsing through the walls. Purple light hiding behind both.

The Void was not empty.

It was full.

Full of every laugh, every worry, every memory, every person who had walked into VIBE hoping they would belong.

Kai took the glasses off.

The room went black again.
