In honour of Pride Month, we're shining a spotlight on two incredible winners from the 2025 National Diversity Awards whose work is creating safer, more inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ communities across the UK!

🌟 Community Organisation Award for LGBT winners, LGBT Sparkle

What started as a local support group in Wolverhampton has grown into a thriving community of more than 1,500 members across the UK.

Founded by Paul Ryder and Marcus Cotterill, LGBT Sparkle creates safe, welcoming spaces where people can connect, build confidence and be their authentic selves. From weekly meetups and arts & crafts sessions to dementia-friendly activities and community events, their impact reaches far beyond social support.

One member joined feeling isolated and lacking confidence. Today, they help run activities and support others.

That's the power of community!

🌟 Positive Role Model Award for LGBT winner, Katie Neeves

A trans advocate, speaker, photographer and founder of Cool2BTrans, Katie has used her own journey to educate, reassure and inspire people around the world.

Through her videos, public speaking and awareness training, Katie has helped countless people feel seen, understood and accepted. Her message is simple but powerful:

"It really is OK to be trans."

At a time when trans voices are more important than ever, Katie continues to champion dignity, understanding and representation with honesty, warmth and courage.

These winners remind us why the National Diversity Awards matter!

Because visibility matters.
Representation matters.
And celebrating those creating positive change helps inspire even more of it.

“We met so many amazing human beings and learned about their triumphs over adversity…”

Remembering George Floyd 🤍🕊️

Today marks six years since the murder of George Floyd, a moment that sparked global conversations around racism, inequality and the urgent need for meaningful change.

His death forced individuals, organisations and institutions to confront uncomfortable truths about systemic discrimination and the experiences of Black communities around the world.

Six years on, many organisations have taken steps forward.
But reflection alone is not enough.

The real questions are:
What has changed in practice?
Whose voices are being heard in decision-making spaces?
Are organisations creating environments where Black employees feel genuinely safe, valued and able to progress?

Progress is not measured by statements made in moments of crisis.
It is measured by the actions that continue long after public attention fades.

That means continuing to challenge barriers, address inequity, improve representation and create cultures where inclusion is embedded, not performative.

Remembering George Floyd is not only about looking back.
It is about recognising the responsibility we all still have to keep moving forward.

Let’s stay committed to driving true equity in all aspects of life and work, ensuring that Black voices are heard, valued, and empowered!

We’re incredibly proud to share these words from Konnie Huq, host of this year’s National Diversity Awards, as we celebrate our 15th anniversary!

"I’m genuinely honoured to host the National Diversity Awards on their 15th anniversary. Growing up in a British‑Bangladeshi family, I didn’t always see people who looked like me or shared my experiences represented on screen or celebrated in wider society. So standing on this stage, recognising people who are breaking barriers and lifting others up, feels deeply personal. These awards remind us how powerful it is when every community is seen, valued, and given space to shine."

The National Diversity Awards have always been about more than recognition.

They are about visibility. Representation. And celebrating the people and organisations creating meaningful change across the UK.

For 15 years, these awards have shone a light on the individuals, charities, community groups and businesses helping build a more inclusive society for everyone.

And this year promises to be more powerful than ever!
