Wavertree, Childwall and Dovedale Family Hub & Children's Centre Provide services for families What is a Children's centre? This includes grandparents, fathers, foster carers and childminders. Parents-to-be are also welcome.

A Children's centre brings together a wide range of service for children from birth - five years and their families. The centre’s create a one-stop shop within the community for parents/carers and providers of childcare and family support. Any adult caring for a child under five can register and access services at any of the 24 children's centres across the city. Parents with young children often

have difficulty travelling to different places to access services. For example, a parent with a 3 year old child and a baby may have to drop the 3 year old at nursery and go to the health clinic for the baby's assessment before going to Jobcentre Plus for information on employment and benefits. At the same time, they may be anxious about childcare for the baby if they find a job! By bringing together a range of service for children and families, from early education and childcare to health and family support, the centres will make it easier for parents to access service for their children and themselves and help more families benefit in the critical early years of their children's lives. Examples of service provided by a Children's Centre include:
Childcare for children from birth - 5 years from 8am-6pm, 50 weeks of the year to support working parents and others. Early education led by a teacher for children aged 3 and 4 years. Child and family health services e.g. ante natal and post natal support. Family support e.g. advice and support with parenting skills, dads clubs, learning courses etc. Links with Jobcentre Plus e.g. support in accessing training and employment. Services for Children with Special Educational Needs and disabilities.

*All Children's Centres are fully inclusive settings with support for children with Special Educational Needs and disabilities and are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all children. Activities will vary at each centre according to local community needs.

Room on the Broom Magic! 🧹✨
What a magical time we had for Week Three of our Julia Donaldson event, "Room on the Broom!"
We gathered around the cauldron to mix up bubbling potions, rescued our animal friends from a deep, muddy bog, and cast spectacular spells with our hand-made wands! Our little witches and wizards also created wonderful artwork inspired by the book.
Thank you to everyone who brought their imagination, creativity, and big smiles to our final story adventure!

To say thank you for attending our sessions, everyone got a special Julia Donaldson book supplied by Read for Good !
Some of us couldn't even wait to get home to read it! 📖❤️

What a farm-tastic time we had for Week Two of our Julia Donaldson event, "A Squash and a Squeeze and a story please!" 🚜🌾We got our hands dirty playing in the farmer's veg patch, made the most adorable chicken handprints, and had a blast filling our baskets in the farm shop! 🥕🐔🛒 Our little helpers brought the story to life with so many big smiles and clever ideas. Thank you to everyone who joined us to dig, paint, and squeeze into the farmyard fun!But the adventure isn't over yet...✨🧹 Room on the broom! Clear your schedules because next week for our grand finale, we are soaring into the sky with the witch. You won't want to miss this magical flight! 🐸🐱🐕

What a splash we made for Week One of our Julia Donaldson event, "A Squash and a Squeeze and a story please!" 🐋✨
We dove headfirst into an underwater adventure, went fishing for big smiles, and had a blast playing in the sand! 🌊🎣🏖️
Our little explorers brought the story to life in the most magical, messy, and marvelous ways.

Here it is! Our first Community Cafe event ☕️ If you're a parent or carer and need support with anything.. We're here to help ❤️ We'll be holding these events monthly to share all the amazing activities, support, and courses family hubs and children's centre's has to offer you. We will also be inviting professionals from different areas like housing, benefits advice, local councillors and neighbourhood officers, local schools and nurseries, to address any issues people in the area might have.

Lynne is a welcome addition to our Wavertree site and will be helping families in the area who need it, connecting them with services, and offering support.
Lynne will be holding a monthly community café starting 30th September, 2-3pm.
