Vigil for Professor Jason Arday 🖤

We’re sharing this post to make sure that people in our community who may not have been following the story closely, but who follow 4Wings, are aware of the vigil taking place in Liverpool today.

The vigil is being hosted by LJMU UCU and Stand Up to Racism Merseyside, bringing people together to remember Professor Jason Arday and stand against racism.

Jason’s journey through Liverpool makes this loss feel particularly close to home, and our thoughts, love and prayers are with his family, friends, colleagues and everyone who knew and loved him.

We wish we could have done something before someone reaches a point like this. While we gather to remember Jason, we also hope this can remind us of the importance of looking out for one another, listening, and taking action before it is too late.

If you are able to attend, please consider joining the vigil and standing alongside the community in memory of Jason.

📍 Junction of Mount Pleasant & Hope Street, near Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral
🕠 Today, Wednesday 19 August, 5:30pm
🖤 Please wear black and bring a flower if you can.

Everyone is welcome.

Before the school summer holidays, in
collaboration with 4Wings' members, we held a Storytelling/Story-listening workshop exploring TRANSFORMATION and CHANGE through the metaphor of the butterfly 🦋

Rather than asking simply, “How do we change?”, we explored a deeper question:

“What are we becoming, and what conditions do we need to create for that transformation to happen?”

It was a beautiful space for reflection, creativity, and shared learning.

✨️Catch up✨️
On Wednesday 8th July, in collaboration with the Museum of Liverpool, our members took part in an inspiring photography session exploring how images can tell our stories.

Staying true to our commitment to ethics, dignity, and consent, we found meaning through places, water, and everyday objects, reminding us that stories can be found everywhere.

We ended the afternoon with refreshments overlooking the River Mersey in the sunshine. A huge thank you to Daniella Shaw and Claire Hunter for creating such a thoughtful and inspiring experience. ✨🩵

We've been a little quieter than usual on social media recently. Over the next few posts, we'll be sharing some highlights to catch you up on the work, partnerships and events we've been involved in.

One recent highlight was attending **Building Women’s Power**, a gathering that brought together grassroots organisations, funders and movement leaders.

It was a valuable opportunity to connect with organisations working in similar ways to 4Wings, exchange ideas, strengthen existing relationships and build new ones. It was also encouraging to be part of a space dedicated to women's experiences, priorities and collective action.

Thank you to **Smallwood Trust**, **Civic Power Fund**, and everyone involved in bringing the gathering together. The welcoming setting at **Shoreditch Arts Club, London** provided the perfect environment for meaningful conversations and collaboration.

This National Volunteers' Week, we are celebrating the incredible people who give their time, skills, and kindness to support our community. 💜

From helping to facilitate sessions and activities, to offering practical support behind the scenes, our volunteers play a vital role in creating a welcoming space where women from all backgrounds can connect, learn, and grow together.

Your dedication, compassion, and willingness to share your time help make a real difference in the lives of refugees, asylum seekers, and other members of our community. We are so grateful for everything you do.

Thank you for being part of the 4Wings family and for helping us build stronger, more connected communities. ✨
