Help Neil Get His Life Back

Help Neil Get His Life Back Neil suffered severe traumatic brain injury after falling 50 foot when he was robbed and abandoned by a taxi driver.

He was discharged home from hospital in October 2013 on 20+meds, receiving daily injections from district nurse, unable to move, bedbound, doubly incontinent, unable to communicate and receiving all his nutrition and meds through a stomach peg. He received no further intervention from the NHS and it was left to his family to help him to achieve the best possible quality of life. We discovered Burs

cough Neurotherapy and asked them to assess Neil to see if there was anything further we could do as the NHS had written him off. Then it all changed...the sessions cost £96 per session so we arranged a benefit night for Neil and raised enough for him to start attending. Once we saw the transformation in Neil we continued fund raising to enable him to keep going. We are now 16 months on since Neil came home and wow.. he is EATING three meals a day which he can feed himself, no longer has visits from the district nurse, reduced meds to 4, has created his own sign language, started to vocalise, can sit up on the sofa, goes the cinema, the everton home games, shopping, chooses what he wants to wear each day, turns the television on/off and is constantly laughing and winding us all up! I have appealed to the continuing health care team on numerous occasions to have these sessions funded for Neil as they are clearly improving his daily life but they are not interested. Neil still requires 24 hour care by two carers and we do not know where his recovery will take him, but what he has achieved in the last 16 months is amazing when the NHS would of put him in a care home for the rest of his life. We will continue to fight for Neil and fundraise to enable this therapy to continue and give him the chance to GET HIS LIFE BACK!
