Sefton Community Pantry CIC The CommUNITY Pantry is based in Seaforth and operates all year round helping vulnerable families. Many thanks for your continued support for all our projects.

ALL Referrals MUST be made via Sefton schools, who collect and deliver on our behalf for safeguarding and confidentiality purposes. 165 Seaforth RD Mon-Thur The Community Pantry provides food and hygiene hampers to vulnerable families in our community. We also provide free new winter coats and school uniform when we have it donated and smart wear for interviews, funerals and prom as well as new b

edding. We believe that all children are entitled to receive new, unworn clothing and bedding. We appreciate that many donors will have items that are "good as new" however, we are governed by food hygiene regulations and therefore are prevented from storing used items with the food we distribute, regardless of condition. This is even more important during the times we are currently living in. We distribute through Sefton schools who refer the families to us and who deliver on our behalf. All donations of food and new goods should be dropped off to us at our base in kangaroo storage on Derby Road in Bootle. We would achieve nothing without YOU.

ABSOLUTELY. Why is it that councils are building the majority of their houses for the sales market. I wasn't aware there was a shortage of houses for sale. However I am well aware that hostels and other temporary accommodation are bursting at the seams. Government seem to be giving local authorities funding to help end the housing crisis. Only for them to build them for sale. The majority of people on the homeless list in our authority are unemployed. The area we work from is in the lowest 3% most deprived neighbourhoods in the country. How on earth to families afford quarter of a million pound houses. Oh and that is if they are even available that cheap. Developers seem to be building on every blade of grass where we live some of the houses were for sale from the begining of covid. Something needs to be done. We need more social housing not houses for sale.

The real cause of the housing crisis? Not enough truly affordable homes being built.

Reform have announced plans to make it more difficult for single parents, unemployed people or those born outside Britain to access social housing.

But excluding people from social homes will only stoke division in our communities.

In England, we’ve lost over 4,000 social homes in the last year alone. Put simply, the housing crisis has been caused by too few of the homes we need being built.

If politicians are serious about ending the housing crisis, they must build more social homes, not tinker with the system to exclude people.

Well hello folks. It seems that some of you are already taking a peek at the amazon wish list. We have received our first order of the year. Lynne Warham I am pleased to say that it was a Willow and the Whoosh book. It looks like we are under starters orders for the main event folks. We can never be too early preparing for Christmas as it comes round and slaps us in the face far too quickly. However I am taking this opportunity to highlight some items that are bargains if anyone would like to jump on board at this early stage. These LFC duvet covers are only £9.99 online at Home bargains if any of you are flush and feel able to help us. I am looking for blue alternatives too and they will follow as and when I find them. We will likely need approximately 600 single duvet covers this year . This is only an estimate which we believe will be much higher. However, with you lot on board we know we can deliver the goods just in time for the big fella in red to arrive. We believe that all children should be able to get in to bed and smell that unmistakable smell of brand new bedding. It is something I have done for my children for nearly 50 years and want to make sure that all of the children we send gifts to will benefit. Enjoy the rest of your summer folks there aint much left of it.
