Sefton Carers Centre We provide free advice and guidance, emotional and practical support, training and a range of holistic therapies for unpaid carers living in Sefton.

A carer is someone of any age who provides unpaid support to family or friends who could not manage without this help. This could be caring for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse problems. Anyone can become a carer. Indeed carers come from all walks of life, all cultures and can be of any age. Many feel they are doing what anyone else would in the same situation; looking after their mother, son, or best friend and just getting on with it. Carers don’t choose to become carers: it just happens and they have to get on with it. If they did not do it, who would and what would happen to the person they care for? Our vision at Sefton Carers Centre is of a world in which the role and contribution of unpaid Carers is recognised and valued and where unpaid Carers have access to support and services of the quality that they need to live their own lives.

Do you, or someone you care for, receive domiciliary care or home care services in Sefton?

council Commissioning Team is carrying out a consultation to help shape the future of home care and support services across Sefton. They are keen to hear from as many people as possible to ensure a wide range of experiences and views inform future commissioning decisions.

🗣️ Join the Coproduction Group for Care and Support at Home Services and help influence Sefton's future Home Care Model. All residents and family carers who use home care services are welcome to get involved.

The group offers a safe, friendly and welcoming space where young people can:
✅ Make new friends and socialise
✅ Share their views and ideas
✅ Learn new skills and build confidence
✅ Help shape local SEND services
✅ Create resources, leaflets and promotional materials
✅ Work with professionals to make a real difference for children and young people across Sefton

🌟 Young people in the group have already helped to refresh Sefton's SEND Local Offer website, create information resources, design logos and promotional materials, and influence local services.

📅 When? Fortnightly Mondays (term time only)
🕟 Time: 4:30pm to 5:30pm
💻 Where: Online via Teams

To attend, young people must be aged 13+. Parents/carers must provide consent and, where needed, support their young person during sessions.

The group regularly welcomes guest speakers, giving young people the opportunity to learn about local services, ask questions and have their voices heard.

📢 New Memory Cafe Launching in Bootle! 💜

We're pleased to share details of a brand new Dementia Hub launching at the.

The Open Day will feature:

☕ Tea, coffee, snacks and refreshments
👨‍⚖️ Advice from Bell Lamb & Joynson Solicitors on Powers of Attorney and Wills
🏛️ Attendance from the Mayor of Sefton

The hub is open to anyone living with dementia or Alzheimer's, as well as their loved ones and carers. Everyone will be made very welcome.

The project is organised by Julie Lawson, who runs a range of successful dementia-friendly events across the area, including afternoon teas and variety shows.
