Thank you to Father McCoy at SFX Church Liverpool, our neighbours in Langsdale Street, for spending time with one of the people we work, talking about his grief after losing his partner recently. The conversation was a great comfort and helped him understand how to carry on living and moving forward 🙏

At last week's Liverpool Strategic Partnership and the launch of Liverpool's Anti Racism Strategy, Alison McGovern MP, Minister of State for Local Government & Homelessness spoke powerfully about how Liverpool is defined by the contribution of all its people - those born here and those who choose to make this city their home.

We are proud to stand with Liverpool in challenging racism and promoting inclusion. Our door remains firmly open to all that are at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness.

Together, we can build a city where everyone is welcomed, valued and supported.

We took part in the Solace Women's Aid Rough Sleeper Census. The report has now been published, and the results are harrowing. Liverpool City Region recorded 28 female rough sleepers during the week that the data was collected. Compared to the more general rough sleeper count in the Autumn this is an increase of 19 individuals across Liverpool City Region, but we know there are likely to be lots more females hidden that aren't part of this data.

Key themes for the government to consider include what prevents females accessing support, including recognition of s*xual violence and abuse in key legislation, addressing specific needs of women compared to men when designing support services, amending the definition of rough sleeping to include the unique experiences of females and funding the census as part of their data collection.

We're very grateful to the Foundation Social Action Project group of young people who organised and hosted a trip to Anfield for the families staying with us.

Including arranging transport with Arriva North West and a fantastic goodie bag for every child, one parent messaged "Thank you so much for this evening, we all had a lovely time, really appreciate, kids had the best time."

Well, Volunteers Week has been busy as ever - we've had an amazing range of activities to celebrate and thank our volunteers.

Big thanks to:
📖Liverpool Central Library Liverpool City Council for the thoroughly enjoyable and informative tour and session in their archives;
🫂our colleagues at our Harm Reduction service for delivering some Trauma Informed Care update training;
⛏as well as the fabulous volunteers at Williamson Tunnels, Edge Hill
🌞and finally the rain for holding off just enough so we could enjoy our picnic in the park!

The biggest thank you, of course, goes to our volunteers - not just for Volunteers Week, but all year round for their hard work and dedication.
