This week for Wellbeing Wednesday, we’re encouraging everyone to Know Your Numbers.

High blood pressure often has no symptoms, which is why it is sometimes referred to as the “silent killer”. The good news is that a simple blood pressure check can help identify potential issues early and support you to take positive steps for your health.

Understanding your blood pressure numbers is an important part of looking after your wellbeing. Regular checks can help reduce your risk of serious health conditions including heart disease, stroke and kidney disease.

Remember, blood pressure checks are available through Irish Community Care for both staff and community members. If you’d like to find out more or arrange a check, please speak to a member of the team.

Taking a few minutes to know your numbers today could make a real difference to your health tomorrow.

💚 Wellbeing Wednesday 💚

This week for Alcohol Reduction Week, we’re sharing some simple reminders around healthier drinking habits and the positive impact small changes can have on both your physical and mental wellbeing.

Reducing alcohol doesn’t have to mean giving it up completely. Even small steps like planning alcohol free days, drinking more water, or choosing lower alcohol options can make a real difference over time.

Looking after your wellbeing starts with small, manageable changes 💚

Come with us as we travelled to Leeds for a very special afternoon meeting President Catherine Connolly of Ireland 🇮🇪

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with members of the Irish diaspora from across the North, celebrate our shared community ties, and hear powerful conversations about Irish identity, culture and connection.

A huge thank you to for the warm welcome for hosting and to everyone involved in making the visit so special 💚

Today, on National Famine Commemoration Day, we remember the millions who suffered, died and were forced to leave their homeland during An Gorta Mór, Ireland’s Great Famine.

Between 1845 and 1852, over one million people lost their lives and millions more were driven to emigrate in search of survival. Many arrived in Liverpool, where their courage and resilience helped shape the city and the wider Irish community across the North West.

At Irish Community Care, we honour the enduring legacy of those who came before us. Their stories live on in our families, our communities and the support networks that continue to connect Irish people today.

As we pause in remembrance, we also reflect on the strength, solidarity and hope that emerged from one of the darkest chapters in Irish history.

Neart le chéile.
There is no strength without unity.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.
