Good morning all.

I am delighted to invite you to the Greater Liverpool and Knowsley RCN Branch Annual General Meeting (AGM), which will take place on:

The AGM is one of the most important events in our branch calendar and is an opportunity for every member to have their voice heard and help shape the future direction of our branch.

This meeting is not just about branch business. It is an opportunity to hear about the work your branch has undertaken over the past year, learn about our priorities for the year ahead, and find out how we continue to represent and support RCN members across Greater Liverpool and Knowsley.

We know that many of the challenges facing nursing staff, healthcare support workers, students, and nursing support staff are shared across organisations. The AGM provides a valuable opportunity to connect with fellow members from different workplaces, hear about issues affecting colleagues across the region, and contribute to conversations about how the RCN can best support members locally.
Whether you are experiencing workplace pressures, professional concerns, workforce challenges, education and development issues, or simply want to understand more about the work of your branch, we would love to hear from you.

By attending, you will:
• Hear updates on branch achievements and activity over the past year.
• Learn about plans and priorities for the coming year.
• Meet fellow RCN members from across Greater Liverpool and Knowsley.
• Share your views and experiences.
• Help influence the future direction of your local branch.
• Find out more about how you can become involved in branch activities and campaigns.
• Nominations and elections of your branch exec

Your branch belongs to its members, and your participation helps ensure we continue to focus on the issues that matter most to the nursing workforce across our region.

An AGM is also the time to agree a branch committee structure and to elect members to key committee roles. Any member of a branch can stand for one of the governance roles and if a role is contested an election may be held.
As a minimum, each Branch must have a Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. These roles ensure that the branch meets all governance requirements, schedules and leads on branch meetings and activities and provide a direct link to the team at the regional office.

Open to all North West RCN members, you are invite to join us in celebration, to listen to speakers, to ask questions and join in with the discussions and workshops. This year we will be exploring the theme: From Allyship to Action: Building an Inclusive, Anti-Racist Future for Nursing.

A very good afternoon GLK Members

I would like to encourage you to attend the upcoming Royal College of Nursing Greater Liverpool & Knowsley Branch Annual General Meeting (AGM). The AGM is much more than a formal meeting; it is an opportunity for members and representatives from across our Branch to come together, share experiences, celebrate successes, and discuss the issues that matter most to nursing and health care support staff in our workplaces.

The AGM provides a valuable chance to hear about the achievements and activities of the Branch over the past year, learn about current RCN priorities, and help shape our plans and objectives for the year ahead. It is also an excellent networking opportunity to connect with fellow representatives, branch activists, and members from across Greater Liverpool and Knowsley, strengthening the relationships that help us support our members effectively.

Your voice and experience are important. Whether you are a long-standing memebr or newly involved with the RCN, attending the AGM allows you to contribute your ideas, influence the future direction of the Branch, and ensure that the issues affecting members in your workplace are represented and heard.

The AGM will also include elections for the Branch Executive Committee. These roles provide members with an exciting opportunity to influence Branch activity, develop leadership skills, expand their professional networks, and make a real difference to the support and representation we provide to our members across the region.

Executive Branch Positions Available

Branch Chair
• Provides overall leadership to the Branch.
• Chairs Branch meetings and helps set priorities and objectives.
• Acts as the main ambassador and spokesperson for the Branch.
• Supports and works closely with representatives, members, and RCN staff.

Branch Vice Chair
• Supports the Chair in leading Branch activities.
• Deputises for the Chair when required.
• Helps coordinate Branch events, campaigns, and engagement activities.
• Plays a key role in developing future Branch initiatives.

Branch Secretary
• Organises Branch meetings and ensures records are maintained.
• Supports communication with members and Executive Committee colleagues.
• Oversees meeting agendas, minutes, and Branch administration.
• Helps ensure Branch governance requirements are met.

Branch Treasurer
• Oversees the Branch's financial arrangements and expenditure.
• Monitors budgets and ensures funds are used appropriately.
• Provides financial updates and reports to the Executive Committee and AGM.
• Supports effective planning of Branch events and activities.

All Executive Committee positions are open for self-nomination. Serving on the Executive Committee is a rewarding opportunity to represent members, influence the direction of the Branch, develop leadership skills, and strengthen the voice of nursing across Greater Liverpool and Knowsley.

Fantastic turnout today for our Greater Liverpool and Knowsley learning event!

It was brilliant to bring our GLK members together for a packed day of development, campaigning, and branch business.

We kicked things off diving straight into vital topics including pay reviews, job evaluations, our ongoing Know Your Worth campaign, and a brilliant session breaking down the importance of accurate documentation and the common issues reps face when supporting members.

After the break, exec member Vicki led an insightful and overview of tissue donation, followed by Sheree representing Philomene, shining a light on the impactful Doctors of the World campaign.

We wrapped up the afternoon with a full branch meeting covering a wide variety of local topics, plus looking ahead to our upcoming branch AGM this October.

A massive thank you to everyone who attended, contributed, and helped make today such a success. Solidarity! 💙🩺📚
