RNLI New Brighton Lifeboat Station Our role is to operate an emergency 24/7 service to save lives at sea and on the coast. We have a cadre of 30 + operational crew.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution [ RNLI ] is a national charity that has been in existence since 1824 and is funded entirely by public donations and not by the state. New Brighton Lifeboat Station covers the River Mersey down beyond Widnes Bridge, the Wirral & Sefton coastlines and was originally founded in 1863. We are one of the busiest lifeboat stations in the north of England with on av

erage 50 plus call outs per year. We operate one rescue craft :

Atlantic 85 – a high performance inshore rescue lifeboat B-837 ‘Charles Dibdin’

Would you like to visit our Lifeboat station? Email our visits manager Lynn at [email protected] to find out more! We have two sister lifeboat stations on Wirral:

Hoylake – operate a Shannon class All Weather lifeboat and a hovercraft. West Kirby – operate a D Class inshore lifeboat – small RIB ideal for the shallow waters of the River Dee

All Wirral lifeboat stations are staffed entirely by volunteers both crew, management and fundraisers

Our flag is at half mast today in honour of the memories of Bill Ewen and Frank Petsch, on behalf of Marine Rescue NSW 🛟

Bill and Frank tragically lost their lives in Ballina, Australia, last month. Their ultimate sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the courage and dedication of all those who put themselves at risk to save lives at sea. 📟

On Sunday a group of 12 volunteer crew from New Brighton RNLI, RNLI West Kirby Lifeboat & RNLI Hoylake Lifeboat Station cycled to visit colleagues at Southport Offshore Rescue Trust (Southport Lifeboat) 🛟

Our volunteers work closely together saving lives at sea, and it was great to see the equipment and breadth of facilities available at Southport to assist them with rescues 📟

It isn't the first time our cross-station cyclists have headed out, check out our next post for more!

We loved having the opportunity to attend the 999 Day event in Liscard last week, alongside our incredible colleagues from across the emergency services! 🚨

Now in its third year, the event is coordinated by Wirral Constable Nicola Irlam, and visitors on the day had the opportunity to meet:

Local Merseyside Police teams, with their RAPTOR vehicle, carrier and patrol vehicles 🚔
PCSOs 👮
Armed Response Vehicles 💪
Mounted Section Horses 🐴
Wellbeing Dogs 🐕

Alongside loads more, including representatives from Saint Johns Ambulance and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service 🚑🚒

A great day was had by all! 🛟

Our station flag is at half mast today, and has been the last couple of weeks, as we remember and honour the memory of Peter Wilson 🛟

Peter was a former crew member at New Brighton RNLI, and a guard of honour of our current volunteers, along with colour party, had the privilege of honouring Peter's memory and service at his funeral service today at St James's Church in New Brighton 🤍

Thank you for your service, Peter 🛟

We were thrilled recently to welcome some of the Chester RNLI Fundraisers to our station! 🛟

Our colleagues over at Chester RNLI Fundraising do an incredible job raising vital funds to help us continue saving lives at sea, and it was a pleasure to show them around our boathouse 📟
