Today we said goodbye to our friend Viv.

This summer was Viv’s first pilgrimage to Lourdes, accompanied by her lovely mum, Sue. We had the absolute honour of assisting Viv throughout her week; and what a privilege that turned out to be.

As volunteers, we are often thanked for what we give to our pilgrims, but Viv was a beautiful reminder of just how much we get back. We began the week simply there to support her, but in return she gave us her trust, her friendship, her love and so many memories filled with that infectious smile. 💛

Today, Sue told us that Viv had “the time of her life” with us in Lourdes. To know that she had such a happy and special week, just a few weeks before her unexpected passing, is something we feel incredibly proud to have been part of.

Our Coach 2 young people did us proud all over again today, standing together in their yellows as we said goodbye.

'Simply the Best' was one of Viv’s favourite songs. And Viv, you really were.

Lovely little Coach 2 reunion last night over at Our Lady of the Assumption Gateacre . Great to have lots of catch-ups and laughs and hear that so many already signed up for Lourdes 2027! 💛💛

Tonight some of our young people from St Albert The Great RC Parish Stockbridge Village hosted an information session for young people and their parents from their parish that are interested in joining Coach 2 in 2027.

It was great to be invited along and meet some potential newbies and their parents. I loved being witness to the joy of Lourdes being shared!

Application forms are available from Monday 14th September and if you apply before mid October there is a £50 early bird discount!

We have been holding Fr Joe Kendall, his family, friends and brother priests in our thoughts and prayers following his sudden and unexpected passing just a couple of weeks after this year’s pilgrimage to Lourdes.

During our welcome mass this year, some of our young people and staff received a blessing of hands from Fr Joe — a beautiful moment as they prepared to give their time and energy in service to others.

These photographs capture not only a prayerful moment but also a glimpse of Fr Joe's warmth.

We continue to hold Fr Joe in our prayers as he was laid to rest on Friday. May he rest in peace 💙🙏🏻💛
