Monday marked 3 years since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and we were honoured to be invited to a service at Liverpool Parish Church led by Fr Taras, which was attended by hundreds of people - Ukrainians and allies alike. There were readings from dignitaries, songs from the church choir, Ukrainian choir, and Ukrainian children's choir, and prayers from local religious leaders.
At the end of the service, we were invited to light candles for the many who have lost their lives in the conflict - including the estimated 43,000 fighters and over 14,000 civilians who have tragically lost their lives.
It's vitally important to remember the real cost of the war in Ukraine, especially amid the current geopolitical landscape. Millions of people have had to flee their homes and their country, homes have been destroyed and lives have been forever changed. Ukrainians still need our support, our understanding and our friendship. We're very proud to do our part to help - supporting the Ukrainian community here in Liverpool and working with organizations like Katyaโs Medicine Fund, Volunteering and Help Centre and Casus Pax to assist civilians on the ground in Ukraine.
