It’s been a fantastic week of sharing what Homeshare is all about, answering questions and spreading the word.

As 2026 comes to a close, we’re celebrating the many ways that
sharing can help people live well, stay connected and feel supported.

Homeshare brings people together to support each other - helping older people stay independent, giving families greater peace of mind, and creating genuine connections between two people.

It’s practical help, companionship and a shared home.

And, most importantly, it’s about people.

Homeshare can help older people keep doing the things they enjoy, from everyday tasks to hobbies, routines and simply enjoying life at home. Independence is about having the choice and support to keep living life your way.

Leeds Homeshare celebrating the International Day of Older People during 🎉

It was brilliant to celebrate International day of Older People, yesterday at the Age Friendly Leeds event, at Pudsey Civic Hall, Fest For Life! This coincided nicely with .

The mixture of visitors, musicians, stall holders and traders was wonderful. It was fabulous to share information on Homeshare too.

What an amazing week recognising the skills, and experiences across our communities, and that people bring to Homesharing.

Lets continue the work of promoting belonging across generations, and valuing the contributions and talents all ages bring and share. 💗

Living independently doesn’t mean you have to do everything by yourself.

Homeshare brings older people and homesharers together to share a home, time and companionship. It can mean having someone around for a chat, a little practical help and the reassurance of another person being there overnight - while continuing to live independently in the home you love.

This Homeshare Week, we’re celebrating the difference that sharing can make.

For Homeshare Week 2026, we’re continuing to share stories from our network. Meet Sarah and Jane, one of Homeshare West’s matches.

Sarah has been living with young-onset dementia for several years. She already had a care package and strong family support, but her family wanted the extra reassurance of having someone trusted at home.

In early 2026, Sarah was matched with Jane, who had recently returned to Bristol after living abroad. Jane was looking for affordable accommodation but also wanted somewhere she could feel connected and make a difference.

They got on straight away and have since built a comfortable rhythm that works for both of them.

Sarah’s family told Homeshare West: “We feel like Jane has been part of the family since day one. Our stress levels have gone straight down. We love the peace of mind this arrangement brings us.”

Jane says: “Homesharing has allowed me to move back to Bristol and still feel like I’m part of a family, since mine are on the other side of the country. I love living with Sarah and feeling that I’m helping her.”

Their story shows what we’re celebrating this Homeshare Week 2026: reassurance for families, support for independence and a sense of belonging for both people.
