Mersey Care has achieved the maximum Triangle of Care Award which recognises its strong commitment to partnership working between people receiving care, unpaid carers and healthcare professionals.

The Trust has been awarded Triangle of Care Star 3 following an independent peer-reviewed assessment of physical and other services, which builds on previous one‑ and two‑star awards achieved for its mental health, learning disability and other inpatient and community services.

The Triangle of Care is a national quality improvement scheme led by Carers Trust, promoting effective partnership between people receiving care, their carers, and healthcare professionals, and support for carers’ own needs. A carer is regarded as someone who provides unpaid care or support for a partner, parent, child, sibling, family, friend or neighbour who has a disability or long term health condition.

Life can be hard. Loss can feel unbearable. Music can help us grieve—and heal.

When Nigel Linacre lost his son George to su***de, he began writing about his love and his grief. Together with jazz pianist Vladimir Miller, he created Grief Opera—a deeply moving musical experience shaped by loss, love, and hope.
Audiences have called it:
ā€Øā€œAbsolutely beautiful and moving.ā€
ā€Øā€œIt showed me hope for the future.ā€
ā€Øā€œYou showed me that love is everlasting.ā€
ā€Øā€œIts messages will stay with me for life.ā€

Featuring international tenor Neil Latchman and rock singer Keri Farish, alongside Nigel, Vladimir, and a cast of performers who have all experienced loss—including the Sing Their Name Choir.

In recent days, there has been confirmation of contaminated batch/batches of he**in circulating in and around the Southport area, with other reports of concern from other local areas across Cheshire and Merseyside.

There have also been a number of overdoses, some of which required hospitalisation and at least one of which was fatal.

Forensic testing has identified the synthetic opioid etonitazene in the supply. Synthetic opiates are extremely high risk increasing the risk of overdose and of death.

Using these drugs could result in you being hospitalised or dying.

Dementia is all about old people isn’t it? No, it isn’t.

Although dementia is an age-related condition, there are about 72,000 people under 65 with young onset dementia in the UK. Services are often geared to older people so younger people with the condition can struggle to find appropriate support.

To improve understanding, Dementia Liverpool is holding a Young Onset Dementia Awareness Day at Liverpool Central Library on 7 May 2026, between 10.00-4.00pm.

This free drop -in event will include:

expert talks about young onset dementia and why the experience is different from having the condition in older age;
a wide range of stalls providing information about local support and daily living assistance;
advice on legal, employment and financial matters;
conversations with younger people with dementia and their carers about how it has affected their lives; and
opportunities to become a ā€˜Dementia Friend’ who can do their own bit for raising awareness –

To attend, book online at youngonsetdementialiverpool.eventbrite.com

When diagnosed early, nine in ten people survive bowel cancer. That’s why this April, to support Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, we’re asking you to help raise awareness so everyone has the best chance of an early diagnosis.

Knowing the symptoms is important to help spot bowel cancer early. The earlier that it’s found, the more treatable it’s likely to be.

Bowel cancer is cancer that begins in the large bowel, which is made up of the colon and re**um. It’s sometimes called colorectal cancer.
