Taciturn is a professional dance company of four female dancers: Jenny Rees, Jennifer Hale, Jenna Jungbluth and Michelle Brady. The company is based in Liverpool and has been established since 2006, creating and performing vibrant and diverse works that have wide appeal. All four of us are originally from Liverpool, have ventured further afield to train and perform and settled back in Merseyside.
We all have various roles in the dance community and in education settings and work closely with Meseyside Dance Initiative. Our aim is to create dance that is honest, open and entertaining, with no hidden agenda. Each dancer brings their individual style and vocabulary of movement to the company’s work and we reference our separate personalities and experiences to move as one, and to forge a unique and fascinating collective dance identity that is taciturn. Our work has been seen in Liverpool on numerous occasions, indoor and out, and we have also performed in festivals in London and recently as part of the Edinburgh Fringe. Our work has previously been funded by ACE, Liverpool City Council and PH Holt Foundation.
