Here at the Liverpool World Centre our work is centred upon education. On World Teachers Day 2026 we celebrate the work of educators globally and locally as they nuture the talents, skills and apsirations of the next generation of global citizens! LWC works with schools, Universities, pupils, undergraduates and educators to support our drive towards social and environemntal justice.

Great news! Alongside the National Oceanography Centre, Liverpool World Centre are launching a new Mersey Coastal Futures project, funded by the UK Coastal Resilience Network (Coast-R)! Working with schools and organisations most likely to be affected by climate change on the Wirral coast we will develop digital stories and creative outcomes around future scenarios. Did you know that statistically non-violent protests have been more successful in achieving their aims than violent protests?

To celebrate the International Day of Peace we are sharing an excellent resource developed by our friends at the Development Education Centre South Yorkshire - DECSY.

Alongside the core lesson plans practitioners can select from a range of contextual sessions to explore the concepts, principles and case studies of various non-violent protests in modern history, including the Bristol Bus Boycott, the Baltic Singing Revolution, the Indian Salt March and the Kinder Scout Trespass/Right To Roam protest.

The theme for the week this year is Storytelling which we are fully in favour of! Our own mock-COP 31 events in November will also embrace and explore the SDGs of course!

This term we are back on the road with our joint Circular Futures waste project with our friends at Farm Urban! Spaces still available for primaries or secondaries - two classroom workshops, a research task and then a big Schools' Citizens Assembly event in the Spring term. It's the start of a new year for schools and we are busy preparing for our annual mock-COP events with secondary schools across the Liverpool Catholic Archdiocese.
COP31 will be held in Atalya, Tukey in November, and this year there is also a pre-COP which will be held in Fiji. Our versions, supported by the wonderful team at Inter Climate Network (ICN), will be held in St Helens and Liverpool!
School teams will represent different countries for a UN_style debate, and we are aiming to also host guest speakers, politicians and workshop providers.

Did you know that we work with all three Universities in Liverpool? At Liverpool Hope University we work with ITT students, delivering the Wider Perspectives course.
At Liverpool John Moores University, we work closely with Dr Angela Daly n our evaluation, research and papers.
And at the University of Liverpool we deliver the Science and Society Civic Service Award​, including securing placements in local schools and community organisations.
We are very proud of our partnerships with all three Universities - long may it continue!

The Global Learning Network is a consortium of independent, not-for-profit organisations that support and deliver global learning in schools and communities across England and the Isle of Man. Our core work is the support and delivery of global learning in schools and communities. Every year, Consortium members reach thousands of teachers throughout the country through training, classroom support and project work.

Each DEC promotes and supports best practice in global learning through CPD training, whole-school initiatives, advice and access to projects and resources for sale and for loan. Each DEC defines its own areas of work in response to local needs and enquiries, usually working with schools, teachers, local authorities, youth and community groups, universities, volunteers, and adult learners.
They all do amazing work!

Attended an excellent 'lunch & learn' event hosted by LCR Circular Economy Club last week - two insightful talks from the NW NetZeroHub on the science of climate change, and St Helens Council Recycling Team on engaging the public in messaging and habitual change.
