Harvey and Joanna Moore are exceptionally talented young pianists (age 8 and 12) who preformed lunch time recitals in the Lady Chapel of the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral today. Lady Ann Dodd and Rotarians George, Michele and Miss Norah attended the performance and are shown in the group photo. The two youngsters have previously preformed for a few of our Rotary events over the years. It is delightful to watch them growing up and improve their talents.

In Harmony is a local charity, supported by Liverpool Exchange; it supports children living in the more deprived parts of the city. Musicians from the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra to go into local schools and teach the pupils how to play instruments and make music. Moreover, they provide the pupils with a range of instruments for them to play; instruments that are paid for by the donations the In Harmony Liverpool charity receives. This culminates in the concerts given by the pupils at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, which our members have recently attended.

A visit to the first ever community show gardens, which were organised by the Palm House and on display from 10-21 June 2026. “These gardens represented charities, schools and community groups from across Liverpool and beyond. This initiative aimed to provide a platform for these groups to showcase their work both in spirit and in the garden!”

Another of the charities we are supporting this year is RASA, Merseyside, which provides help for anyone who has been sexually abused or r***d, or who has been affected by sexual violence. It provides crucial specialist support, independent advocacy, professional counselling, help and information to improve the mental and physical well-being of individuals impacted by sexual violence. It aims to create and facilitate a safe place to enable victims to work thought their issues and to help them to make choices in their lives to begin their journey into a more positive future.

Our Annual Assembly was held on the 4th of June at the Athenaeum when a summary of the past year was given by our current President, David, and then the Vice President, George, outlined the vision for the next Rotary year, which begins at our Handover Lunch on Thursday, 25th July at the Artists Club.
