“Lovin’ Dovey is a project initiated by Liverpool City Council and local elected members to start inspiring the local people of Dovecot into taking ownership and responsibility of their area, and to begin celebrating everything the area and its people have to offer. More than ever in current society, it is important that local community members stand up and support local agencies to ensure that th
eir community and its people receive the best level of service possible and contribute towards a sustainable future. Lovin’ Dovey has 3 key strands, Environment, Children and Young People and Community Capacity. The Environment section aims to work with the local community to ensure that the living environment of Dovecot is a clean and green place to live. This will involve working with the Council’s Street Cleansing contractor; Amey to ensure the cleansing standard is upheld in the area, providing improvements, meanwhile use and better maintenance of green spaces across the area, tackling dog fouling, improving the general street scene and working to help residents and partners who need assistance with general maintenance of gardens within in the area. The Children and Young People strand will focus on a structured youth provision in the area to meet demand, with a new youth club already started at Dovecot Mac and outreach session and activity in Dovecot Park. The intention is to work with young people from Dovecot to find out what their aspirations are and work with them to achieve these through structured provision and signposting. The Community Capacity strand looks to focus on working with community groups, tenants and residents associations and more; to help them build their capacities to enable a sustainable future. This can involve advice and help on recruitment, constitution, fund raising and developing plans and programmes for their organisations that will benefit the local community. Lovin’ Dovey is about a dedicated focus on the Dovecot Area, but needs YOU as residents to be actively involved. It is YOUR community and needs YOU to ensure a sustainable future.
