🚛 One woodchip delivery... countless wheelbarrow trips later... 😅🌿

Safe to say we got our steps in today! From shovelling and barrowing to raking it all into place, the community garden has had a well-deserved refresh—and it's looking so much better already. 💚

A massive thank you to Ciaran henders for kindly supplying and delivering the woodchip. We really appreciate your generosity and support. it helps us keep improving this space for everyone. 🌳🙌

Huge thanks as well to everyone at the secret garden who grabbed a shovel, pushed a wheelbarrow, or got stuck in. Teamwork really does make the dream work! 💪🌱

What a day! 💚🌿

On Wednesday, we were so lucky to welcome volunteers from Kensington Fields Community centre to the Secret Garden. They worked so hard, bringing so much energy and kindness to the space.

I'll admit, I was really worried. With the hot weather and no access to a water mains on site, I genuinely thought we'd lose so many of the plants we've all worked so hard to grow.

Then, one phone call to Old Swan Fire Station... and they came straight to our rescue. 🚒💦 They turned up and gave the garden the water it desperately needed and filled all of our water butts. We honestly can't thank them enough!

A huge thank you to the volunteers from Kensington Fields Community centre for spending the day with us, and to the amazing crew at Old Swan Fire Station for stepping in when we needed them most.

Community really is everything. ❤️🌸

What a few weeks it's been. ☀️🌿💚

From sunny days spent gardening together, to welcoming so many wonderful faces, it's been a season full of laughter, connection and community.

One of the highlights has to be seeing our incredible volunteer and artist, Carol, create the most beautiful painting, a reminder of the creativity, kindness and talent that flourishes when people come together.

We feel so grateful for everyone who gives their time, shares a smile, plants a seed, or simply comes along to be part of this special place. It's moments like these that remind us why community matters.

Here's to growing together, in nature, in friendship and in hope. 🌱✨

🌱 What a week it's been at Roots in the City! 🌱

From watering, planting, growing, and welcoming visitors, our community garden has been buzzing with activity. Every week we see the power of people coming together to create a greener, healthier, and more sustainable space in the heart of Liverpool.

We're also excited about the growing focus on making Liverpool a "spongier" city. United Utilities has announced major investment in new rainwater management projects across Liverpool, helping communities capture rainwater where it falls and reduce pressure on the sewer network.

Roots in the City is already playing its part. Thanks to support from United Utilities, we've increased our rainwater harvesting capacity with over 2,400 litres of water storage through tanks, water butts, and planters. This means we can collect and reuse more rainwater to keep our garden thriving while helping manage water more sustainably.

Every drop collected is a step towards a greener, more resilient Liverpool. 💧🌿

🎻♻️ Supporting children across the Wirral to make a difference, one small action at a time!

Through creativity, learning, and community spirit, we're encouraging young people to reduce, recycle, and upcycle their waste, helping to build a cleaner and greener future for everyone. Every bottle reused, every item repaired, and every piece of waste recycled makes a positive impact.

Together, we can inspire the next generation to care for our environment and embrace a zero-waste mindset. 💚🌍
