Surgeons Cycle in Support of the Specialists of Tomorrow
Two surgeons from Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital are getting ready to take on the iconic London to Brighton Cycle Ride next month.
Mr Michael Shackcloth, Consultant Thoracic Surgeon, and Mr Mohamed Zeinah, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, will take on the famous 55-mile ride on 13th September 2026, setting off from Clapham Common, South London before completing the challenge on Brighton seafront.
Training is well underway for Mr Shackcloth and Mr Zeinah, who have both decided to take on the cycle in support of their professional body, The Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland (SCTS), alongside many other colleagues from around the country.
They said: "We are excited to be taking on this brilliant challenge and joining many of our surgical colleagues and peers from around the UK as part of Team SCTS. Collectively, our aim is to support surgical education and training for the next generation of cardiothoracic surgery specialists, and by doing that we will be helping to improve the future of patient care."
