Climate Champions: It’s Our Planet Too project have been doing great stuff over the last few weeks. Empowering people with learning disabilities about the environment, climate change and things we can all do to live more greenly is our goal. Having fun, learning new skills, laughing together, and connecting to the earth and nature in regenerative ways is the method 💚
We’re working weekly with a wonderful group of people from who so far have:
🌿 Learned about recycling through game play
🌿 Sowed seeds in a range of ways, using recycled, homemade and eco pots
🌿 Made their own seed paper using free seeds
🌿 Celebrated the humble (not humble) dandelion
🌿 Learned and practiced the first steps of horticulture, sowing seeds, caring for seedlings, making compost
🌿 Discovered the ingenuity of the self-fertilising ecological hugelkultur system, making their own mini hugels as well as tending our big ones
🌿 Connected to nature every week, enjoying restorative, uplifting, liberating days in the lush walled garden
🌿 Brought their unique perspectives and personalities to the table, and showed kindness and understanding to each other as part of a dynamic, cohesive, inclusive collective
It’s been a successful start to what’s going to be a very exciting and impactful partnership project across the Liverpool City Region, shining a light on the importance of embracing all our communities in reaching ecological targets and lifestyles.
