Sneaky peak at the final preparations for our display garden at the 😃

It’s all very exciting - stroke group have been working towards this for the last 8 weeks, and we can’t wait to reveal the final design to you all.

The garden display, featuring gardens from a range of brilliant local charities and voluntary organisations, is going to be open from 1pm 10 June to 21 June, except Saturdays.

This time next week will be the official launch and we’ll show you what we’ve been up to 👏

Climate Champions: It’s Our Planet Too project have been doing great stuff over the last few weeks. Empowering people with learning disabilities about the environment, climate change and things we can all do to live more greenly is our goal. Having fun, learning new skills, laughing together, and connecting to the earth and nature in regenerative ways is the method 💚

We’re working weekly with a wonderful group of people from who so far have:

🌿 Learned about recycling through game play
🌿 Sowed seeds in a range of ways, using recycled, homemade and eco pots
🌿 Made their own seed paper using free seeds
🌿 Celebrated the humble (not humble) dandelion
🌿 Learned and practiced the first steps of horticulture, sowing seeds, caring for seedlings, making compost
🌿 Discovered the ingenuity of the self-fertilising ecological hugelkultur system, making their own mini hugels as well as tending our big ones
🌿 Connected to nature every week, enjoying restorative, uplifting, liberating days in the lush walled garden
🌿 Brought their unique perspectives and personalities to the table, and showed kindness and understanding to each other as part of a dynamic, cohesive, inclusive collective

It’s been a successful start to what’s going to be a very exciting and impactful partnership project across the Liverpool City Region, shining a light on the importance of embracing all our communities in reaching ecological targets and lifestyles.

So this is a good one!

The toilets kept backing up and we didn’t know why. The manhole had been buried under construction rubble so .somatic.hypnotherapy and Chris brought a metal detector to help us find it 😃

We called out the drains company and they stuck a camera down, and found something blocking the pipe. They thought it was plastic at first but when they flushed it out it was a piece of ceramic pipe off a toilet cistern. Clearly been in there since the demolition stage of the build, so it’s probably a miracle it didn’t cause us more problems!

It was actually more fascinating than expected, once the blockage and all the lovely stuff that had backed up behind it had been cleared, to see our clean free flowing drains. They looked like a miniature version of the old Victorian sewer systems, clean as a whistle now. Thanks so much to the lovely guys who cleared them, and to our therapists and their clients for bearing with us while we got to the bottom of it 😳😂🙏

Are you looking for something fun, wholesome and restorative to do with your toddler on a Monday? 🌿💚🌿

Mini Outdoor Clubs Summer block is almost here ☀️😎🌻

We’ll have seasonal forest school activities with the lovely Lisa, the chance to connect and make friends with other parents and children, and lots of opportunities for child led play 🤸🏽‍♀️

In the security of the walled garden, toddlers are given the freedom to explore, move, imagine, and play at their own pace. We’ve been delivering sessions to families since 2017 and it’s not about structured activities or perfect crafts — it’s about real child-led play that supports confidence, communication, coordination, problem-solving, and emotional development in the most natural way possible. Whether they’re balancing on logs, digging in the mud kitchen, or discovering an insect with new friends, every moment helps build independence and resilience while keeping childhood exactly as it should be — full of curiosity, movement, and joy ✨🍃

It’s snowing!! The Cottonwood tree releasing its soft fluffy silky seeds, along with lots of other trees at the moment. Those of you with hayfever may be suffering.

The fluff can be spun and used for insulation or tinder, being similar to the cotton plant, but the fibres are much shorter so it’s harder. We just enjoy the annual snowstorm ❄️

Lovely herb walk and talk on Saturday with medical herbalists Sue and Dalbinder. The herb walk and monthly herbal tea workshop were amalgamated to take place in the garden together. It was lush and all the medicinal plants were popping 🌿

The group enjoyed some inspiring chats about general health, plant medicine, nutrition and health empowerment. The focus was tending naturally towards healthy ageing and hormonal health, and the biggest take home was probably the importance of strength training 💪

Never too late but however old or young you are, start now. Take advice, get a personal trainer, make it personalised, do it in the gym, outdoors, in a class or even in but whichever way, just do it. Building body strength, core strength and balance will pay huge rewards towards ageing well, balancing hormones and maintaining physical and mental health. As well as taking herbs each day of course 🌿💚🌿

See our website for further dates coming soon 🙏

Great visit yesterday by to the therapeutic garden. Tom met group of adults with learning disabilities, who were busy learning to be climate champions as part of a Climate Action Fund project, It’s Our Planet Too. Members were focussing on hugelkultur regenerative planting methods, and generally having a beautiful time in the sun ☀️

Then a tour of to hear about the low carbon retrofit of the building, hempcrete cladding and air source heat pumps. Tom learned how the community developed eco building is providing nature based affordable space for physical, functional and talking therapists, and once it makes a profit will also support the therapeutic garden in a circular and social economy. The beautiful handmade botanical tiles were a hit as always, made by almost 200 community members of all ages, to bring the garden into the building 🌿
