🚗 Support Greenbank with a Test Drive!

We’re delighted to be partnering with People’s Ford as part of the Drive 4 UR Community initiative in support of the Lord Mayor of Liverpool’s Charity Appeal.

It’s simple – take an eligible test drive and Ford will donate £30 to The Greenbank Project at no cost to you.

Every test drive helps us continue providing life-changing opportunities through Greenbank College and Greenbank Sports Academy, supporting disabled people and disadvantaged communities across Liverpool.

👉 Last week marked a proud and historic moment for Liverpool as Lord Mayor Cllr William Shortall was sworn in at Liverpool Town Hall on Wednesday 13 May.

👉 As the first wheelchair user to serve as Lord Mayor in the city’s 816-year history, Cllr Shortall’s appointment highlights a changing Liverpool and the importance of inclusion, accessibility and representation.

👉 Following his historic inauguration, the Lord Mayor visited GGreenbank Collegeto look around and meet learners and users from both Greenbank College and GGreenbank Sports Academyreenbank Sports Academy. He was welcomed by Mary Beaumont, Chief Executive, and Tracey Murphy, Chair of Trustees.

👉 The pictures show the Lord Mayor meeting learners and users from across Greenbank College and Greenbank Sports Academy during his visit.

Cllr Shortall is a proud Liverpudlian who has worked in public service for many years and has consistently spoken up for better access for disabled people, including through the Corporate Access Forum. He also served as a trustee at Greenbank for over six years.

🙏 We are especially proud that the Lord Mayor has chosen GGreenbank Charityas his charity for the year. Through Greenbank College and Greenbank Sports Academy, Greenbank particularly supports disabled people to build skills, confidence, physical activity, movement, independence and opportunity.

👉 Mary Beaumont and Tracey Murphy will also sit on the Lord Mayor’s Charity Group, supporting activity throughout the year.

👉 The Lady Mayoress, Marie, will support the Lord Mayor during the year, with their daughters, Melissa and Laura, also helping as consorts.

👉 Over the year ahead, the Lord Mayor’s role will help shine a light on people and organisations working to make Liverpool more accessible, inclusive and welcoming for everyone.

Greenbank Project Achieves Disability Confident Leader Reaccreditation

The Greenbank Project is proud to have been reaccredited as a Disability Confident Leader (Level 3) as part of the UK Government’s Disability Confident Scheme.

This prestigious accreditation recognises our leadership in supporting disabled people across education, sport and employment, and our commitment to creating an inclusive and accessible workplace.

As a Disability Confident Leader, Greenbank:

• Promotes inclusive recruitment and employment
• Supports disabled staff and volunteers
• Provides accessible education and sport opportunities
• Removes barriers to participation
• Helps other organisations become Disability Confident

Award Period: 2026 – 2029

This reaccreditation reflects our continued commitment to ensuring disabled people have opportunities to learn, participate and succeed.

We are incredibly grateful to the amazing team from Liverpool University (CCT’s, educators and friends) who took on Run Aintree to raise funds for Greenbank Sports Academy 🏅

2 completed the Half Marathon
6 completed the 10K
2 completed the 5K

For some, it was the longest distance they’ve ever run. For others, new PBs were achieved. Every single runner crossed the finish line proud — and so they should be!

Your efforts and fundraising will directly support inclusive sport and physical activity opportunities for disabled people and our wider community. An amazing £800 has been raised todate.
