Friends of Waterloo Seafront Gardens

Marine Garden, Crescent Garden, Adelaide Garden and Beach Lawn. The gardens sit in a conservation area in the seaside town of Waterloo, North Liverpool.

he city centre. There are four distinctive public gardens to enjoy along the seafront:

Marine Garden, Crescent Garden, Adelaide Garden and Beach Lawn. The gardens are located just a short walk from Crosby marine lake, beach and sand dunes. The world famous Antony Gormley 'Another Place' statues stand on the beach. Waterloo itself hosts a number of excellent restaurants, which include the picturesque Lakeside Adventure Centre. The area is easily accessible by road, rail and bus.

Do you remember the other month when we found baby hoglet Cressy out in the sun? Well here he is in his little box nest (of cat food!!) ready to be released back to the wild.
He has stayed with Freshfields rescue since we found him, been looked after, and has been given some hoglet training - like how to sleep and stay out of the sun by day, and only forage by night. 🙂🦔🦔

Thanks to everyone who came to help with our Beach Lawn volunteer session on Sunday. We are trying our best to stop the reeds from overtaking the channels - which isn't easy when they keep on growing and supergluing themselves to the floor! 😂 We are getting there though! Before and after photos below.

Thanks to everyone who came along to help with gardening on Tuesday. It was a warm day so we stuck to the shade of the lower path and uncovered another section of wall. The wall is castellated (is that the right word? 🤔) along much of the lower path but has vanished under grass and weeds over the years.

Big thanks to everyone who came along to help with litter picking on Saturday.
And a reminder that we have a gardening session tomorrow - 11th August - meeting at 10am in Crescent Garden.
We have all the equipment and will have refreshments afterwards. 🙂

Reminder that our August litter picking session will be tomorrow Saturday 8th at the children's play park on the Marina, meeting at 10:30am.
We will finish at around 11:30 with tea and biscuits.
All equipment is provided and all are welcome to come along and join in. :)

In addition to rescuing a baby hoglet at last Wednesdays volunteer session, we should also mention this bit of work we did! 😉
